I registered for an SAT II in a location that's far away before I heard about standby testing. I want to just walk into the nearest high school and take it there, since that would be much more convenient on test day.

Some questions:

1) I already registered but don't plan to change the location or any other info by the "late" deadline because chances are, no other remaining high school would be even closer to me anyway. Would I have to do some extra paperwork for standby? I'm referring to the registration form that I supposedly have to get from my school office (How To Register for the SAT).

2) Would I only have to pay the standby fee on test day since I already registered, although for a different school, today?

3) How much earlier should I arrive, based on others' past experiences with standby testing?

4) Do I have to call in advance or something?

Sorry, I just want to get all these worries out of the way. Thanks!

lol just go to where u registered. i live in nassau, ny and i just registered for the test to take in yonkers…

tough luck for me. on top of that i late tested so i just spent 7x dollars of the bat. i have to land perfects to make this money and time well spent.

Anyone else?

SOMEONE has to have had experience with this!!!

Haha, I know this thread is kind of old, but I want to address my questions for anyone out there like me (a.k.a. a worrywart)! :)

1) No extra paperwork. Just have a parent call the school you prefer to test in and come in on the day you signed up for.

2) No, the standby fee does not apply to students who already paid the registration fee.

3) If your parents call in before the exam to tell an admin that you’ll be a standby although you already registered at a different school, try to come about 1/2 an hour early to beat the long lines and to ensure that you’ll have a spot. Chances are, you will!

4) Yes, but it’s also fine if a parent does it for you. Just make sure your situation is explained and your name is taken down correctly.

^ Haha, thank you! I’m actually in the same situation as you were last spring!

what if you didn’t register anywhere?
I missed the late deadline but I want to take the SAT II Math test again after seeing my score.
Can I still be a standby? How do I do so?

and is it pricier? do you know the price by any chance?

Sorry for all the questions but I am a worry wart :p
