Stanford 2014 SCEAers

almost every one of the people i know at stanford took and loved the swing dancing classes on campus

@mfederman

we see competition at Intel ;)

and yes, I too have the Stanford Bipolar Syndrome

I’ve always thought of swing dancing as similar-ish to ballroom, but less…formal and restricted, I guess. I think I’d enjoy either one though.

I’d do ballroom dancing too… fun :D

Ballroom dancing would be really cool, I learned how when I was young and I go to a prep school so we have a lot of formal dances.

I would absolutely love the Viennese Ball, my grandma’s family fled Vienna during the Holocaust but she still loves the old Viennese culture, it’s funny.

So if you get into Stanford and your family has an income of more than $150,000 then do you basically have to pay full tuition?
Because my family is over that but my family will have 3 kids in college at once, and so far none have received scholarships and that would be a huge burden.
So I am trying to stack as many minor scholarships as possible, I’m entering every local contest I can.

184th post in this thread…

I think I should set my goal to a 250 until Dec. 15th…

no! make your number 300 your decision!

^

Formally, I have never had any chance to do ball dancing :(

But I hope I soon will :D

My goal was a 300 but school stuff is getting heavy lately… :(

go for 500 :)

no I mean your 300th over all! pace yourself, 1 a day haha

@NJDS

now that’s crazy man… LOL

but it wouldn’t hurt to try ;)

EC’s i might join: Stanford Gaming Society-- playing the Magic the gathering card game is a life skill, if a planeswalker challenges me to a duel, I’ll be able to throw down :P

+Probably math club assuming they have one…

+Possibly start a “Stanford hardcore kids” club

@Prussia! I agree with REA and the title format, consistency is good, and i don’t remember who said it before but I think “What would you have done differently?” would be a good question to ask, I’m sure that even if someone were accepted they would have changed some things, and ultimately these threads are for the benefit of future Stanford applicants so what better comments question would there be to ask?

I also think it might be a good idea to quantify the “Subjective” fields. As I read the decisions, I just gloss over that part. I think it might be more meaningful if “good,” “bad,” “and decent” were normalized on a scale from 1 to 10 or 1 to 5, to actually make those fields comparable beyond each person’s perception of the positivity/negativity of each word. Maybe that would complicate things too much but I think it would be better then as is…

EDIT by subjective fields i mean Essays/Counselor Rec/Teacher 1 Rec/Teacher 2 Rec

I think I’ll combine NJDS’s and mfederman’s advices::

My 500th Post will be in this thread on Dec. 15th…

Or maybe the decision thread ;)

haha you gotta step it up!

I’m going to try to break 200 today!

nice :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :)

Hi everyone! lol so many pages…what are we talking about? My MIT interview is today at 7:00pm, it’s 4:15 right now…a little nervous
