its so weird looking at stanford’s naviance page and seeing ourselves

hahaha

yea, later in life i get a job at the post office and i see a letter with the presidential seal on it and, being curious, i open it, and its “that” kid’s rec letter, and so i try to seal it back up and send it to Stanford but when they get it they think its fraud so the kid gets denied…

my fault :(

how do you check it NJDS?

how do you look at its naviance page?

I’ve been gone for 45 minutes and there were three pages of posts. I can’t keep up with you people. This is almost worst than the QB thread. Well, it actually is now that that kind of dissolved into a QB Matched vs. Non-Matched war zone. Alas. I’ll have to visit you guys. I’m trying to come up with some Stanford material to read. I think I’ll start with some of the Class of 2013 stuff, and then move on to the newspaper.

Okay, so, this was PROBABLY discussed earlier in the thread, so forgive me in advance if it was, but – did we talk about what everyone wrote for the CommonApp essay?

@Fashion: actually no, we tried to dip into essay topics during the 2k post day but it never really stuck…

i did my internship w/BSU civil engineering

hopefully the synergy w/my research professor’s rec looks good…

mine was about the time that the westboro baptist church protested my synagogue. I feel like it was a solid essay, how I dealt with adversity, my sense of humor was in there, and I discussed a topic important to me and I feel like it was well written.

did we ever say what we talked about in our roommate essays?

no 10charrawrrawrrawr

I would just like to say the new(ish) Threat Signal album is one of the best metal albums of all time!!

For my CommonApp essay, I talked about Jane Fonda and her impact on me as both an activist and, to a lesser extent, as an actress in her choice of roles. It was risky, because of the Vietnam part.

I wrote about YES WE CAN (the Obama speech) and the Inauguration in my essay, but that was just a framework for flashbacks. I wrote about allergies for my roommate essay.

When do your decisions come out?! The 10th?

i wrote about my taste in music/being a drummer

@above December 15th (3 P.M. Pacific?)

I’m still hoping for the 11th but I know that they specifically said the 15th . My roommate one was about how people always think of Oklahomans, like we live in teepees or we are all farmers, it was funny.

maybe they will come out on the 11th as a holiday surprise, and ruin 90% of our weekends. haha.

pssh, you think your state has it bad?

red-necks, neo nazis and potatoes…

you live on a potato farm w/o electricity, hang gays, think the holocaust never happened, and ride branded cows to school right?

+the occasional Larry Craig joke

my grandma in New York asked me to bring her a teepee last year, she has visited here before haha! Almost at 200!!!
My essay wasn’t about that I have it bad, I just took a comical stance to the stereotypes of Oklahomans and I wrote how I fit some of the stereotypes and how some of them are ludicrous

idaho dude…

haha and not to turn this into a my state is worse then yours war or anything but i think of your guy’s football program when i think of your state, that being a good thing cept we wrecked you guys in the fiesta bowl :P

For my intellectual vitality essay, I wrote about how I sold pokemon cards at my elementary school playground during recess and compared it AP Microeconomics. For my letter to roomate, I talked about my undying passion for reading and writing poetry and how I love to be “THE NEGOTIATOR” in controversial situations. For my Why Stanford Essay, I compared Stanford to an intricate prosthetic device. The students within it are the castings, fittings and adjustments that work together to perform the common goal of allowing the prosthetic to function properly. If any part of the device fails function properly with the other parts, the overall device will fail, and in the same sense a college cannot function if any of the students within in fail to work together.
