My school is pretty intense - about 10 kids got into Stanford last year. What I hear from them is that they spend about the same amount of time on work as they did in high school, but they spend less time in class and more time on homework.

darn I didn’t realize I was one off from a cool number to stake a claim on. shoot!

tbh honest I’m not worried about Stanford course rigor. If you get accepted you will be able to handle it despite any past disadvantages. I always find myself pleasantly surprised in situations where I feel I might struggle. I’m sure Stanford will be much more challenging then anything else that I’ve faced so far but I feel like i can handle it.

I mean the kids in my EPGY “course” were all 2300+ SAT, top of their class-ers but i was able to go toe to toe with them.

And all the admissions officers I’ve heard speak have always said “probably 80% of you could handle the coursework and excel here, however we simply don’t have that many spots available…”

and despite the fact that it reeks of school promotion, I believe it…

and lol @420(0) NJDS

Hahaha. I’m glad someone else got the 4200 humor.

haha we will probably have to explain the significance of it to diivio now

^I agree with with Nitro, nothing is impossible if you work hard and persevere, some people are lucky enough to be born with a little more smarts allowing them to work less than others in excelling in certain things but in the end all our potentials are nearly equal, it’s just our rate of development that might differ slightly.

mfederman - No kidding. Maybe that should be my location line. It would certainly clear up the confusion. I guess I’m kind of the only one then. The only thing I’ve ever studied for - ever - was the SAT (although obviously it worked). And I don’t think I’ve ever written anything longer than five pages, and that was only maybe three times (two of them in my freshman year, one as a sophomore… none recently). So, I know I’m qualified, and I’m in no way expecting to be at the top of the Stanford class. But I really don’t want to be that kid who gets an F in a class curved on a B. I guess recognition is the first step.

Darn I was going to ask it’s significance. But now I don’t want to.

We probably will have to explain it to many people. I mean, it’s not as obvious as 420. You kind of have to be looking for it. Or just be very cynical.

Anyway, congrats on 4200 :)

Nitro explained it you me…you silly Canadian pot smokers lol jk (Canadians are cool I don’t mean to diss them, my cousin is Canadian)

applicannot you will do fine, i understand the nerves, the prospect of Stanford does seem pretty daunting but you will catch up to your peers quickly despite any disadvantage in your educational background

wow… look at all these posts…

could you provide an update, Nitro ;)

Hahaha, it’s always nice to have a friend willing to explain the innerworkings of drug related holidays :)

I agree. I’m sure anyone who gets in will be able to handle it. Though I imagine the transition will be difficult. The 4 people I know at Stanford all love it, regardless of how much work they have. So I’m sure it will all balance out.

had drum lessons tonight so ill have to do a lil bit of digging to get caught up but ight, give me a sec

sure…

damn… I am bored:(

In school. My chem teacher is absent so I have a double free…

@ Starmie if you missed my earlier post
Want to trade Boys State shirts? I have a New York, Texas, and Connecticut one! A Cali one would be awesome!
I have a yellow mayor one but the Cali one would have to be pretty amazing to get me to trade that one.

I can get you a Missouri one! That is, if we ever meet.

OMG. Brown + Yale + Stanford SCEA’s = World Domination

Thanks Dramacratic :)

Nice! I got a ton of extra Oklahoma one because i knew that at most of the elite colleges there would be other Boys staters and I might get some good trades.
