@freshlemon123 me too!
@shooting4themoon @NovusCannis @blsUCtransfer
Awesome guys! I’m actually a senior in high school and am planning to transfer to Stanford as after one or two years! Can u guys plz share your stats here? Do y’all think it’s going to be hard for specifically community college students to transfer to Stanford? :-SS
@freshlemon123
what’s your intended major? if it’s something related to social sciences, I would advise you to enroll at Foothill College. They have an internship program with Stanford University.

@freshlemon123
Some of quick stats are post #29 in this thread.
I have read before that Stanford likes community college transfers, but I really don’t know how true that is.
Sure, also would any of you be interested in exchanging essays as a sort of retroactive feedback? I find myself more critical but not in a self doubt way after having turned it in a month ago.
I’ll add my stats in a few
Hi everyone!
First time ever posting on College Confidential and first time truly reading each comment on a forum lol
I too have applied to Stanford as a Transfer applicant for the 2017 academic year.
Here are my stats:
Major: Physics
Current School/all colleges attended (if applicable): Los Angeles Mission College / Los Angeles Valley College
Current GPA: 3.96
Year: This is where it gets complicated Time wise, this is my 3rd year of CC. However, when I transfer I would have junior credits. Essentially, 3 years of time, 2 years of credits.
High School GPA: 4.2 weighted.
SAT/ACT score: 1760
Extra Curricular: Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (even though I’m a physics major), Volunteer hours at the Science Discovery Cube, part of the STEM program at LAMC, CCCP UCLA Scholar, one or two other small not-so impactful ones that I can’t even remember.
Comments: Stanford is a dream school but I’m a realist. 1760 on the SAT is probably the lowest I’ve ever seen on any Stanford thread lol. My GPA is close to perfect, but not perfect. My EC are pretty basic. Everyone says “my personal statements are strong!”. I’m just being real, mine were “meh”, I wrote them in a weekend and barely did any revisions. I’m not a pessimist, but I know I’m not going to get in. Only reason I applied was to not live with the “What if?” I don’t even have any expectations of getting in. Many people here are crazy qualified and I wish you guys the best!
EDIT: to post above.
Applied to: UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCSB, Stanford
Acceptances: UCSD, UCSB
Rejections: none… so far.
Im a community college student too! Good luck everyone! Im really nervous in terms of being a community college student as compared to coming from a four-year university x[
I know I shouldn’t be here but I applied to MIT transfer from UK. I’m here because the MIT thread is absolutely dead. It’s like only 3 people applied…and there have been only like 5 comment, 2 of which were from me… :/. So um, the only thing I want to ask is that am I at a disadvantage if my university I am currently at did not have the official transcripts at the time of sending the documents to MIT so I had to get an unofficial one made. The unofficial one is literally just blackboard scores XD.
@sagar448 Universities strictly want official ones. If they’re unofficial they have no sense of security because they could’ve been falsified .
Is it really hard to get in to top tier schools like Stanford from community colleges???
@freshlemon123
It’s gonna be hard no matter what. In previous years Stanford has accepted between 30 and 40 transfer applicants total. Usually half of those accepted come from two-year colleges and half from four-year colleges. Unless there are significantly more of one type of applicant than the other, I don’t think our chances are any higher or lower coming from a two-year.
@kbe0282 i think you’re definitely in…or well, at least i think you have a very high chance of making it. 50/50 lol. i heard stanford loves accepting veterans as transfer students or something, so coming from the naval academy is great. plus you have a 4.0 college gpa there, that’s amazing! and high test scores. and computer science helps. damn.
@FerPhys oh hey im a physics major too, but i still have a year left before i transfer. (i too will transfer as a junior yet i will have attended 3 years of community college by the time i transfer). it was very motivating to read. good luck!
@sagar448 Just wanted to let you know that the MIT thread you commented on is the one for spring transfers. I don’t think anyone made one for fall 2016 transfers. But if you want to that’d be great!
@otoribashi thanks! Like I said, I’ve kept my hopes pretty low! Can’t be bummed if you’re expecting the worst! hahaha
How’s your application coming along? What are your stats?
@FerPhys i still have a year of community college before i can transfer but… yeah my stats are horrid lol. i had a 3.8 GPA of just gen ed and prereqs until i did badly last fall and it went down to 3.2 (i got a C in a 1 unit exercise class haha. and a D in calc, im retaking it right now and if i get an A in that it should move up to 3.6) im just hoping to be in the 3.6-3.8 range. i dont think ill be able to get a 4.0 this semester unfortunately…maybe 2 Bs and an A…
my stats are horrible, im not actually applying to stanford but of course it’s everybody’s dream school.
Major: Physics
Current School/all colleges attended (if applicable): california community college in southern california
Current GPA: 3.2 (retaking a D right now, it should go back up to a 3.6+ range after this semester) horrid.
Year: when i transfer, i will have completed 3 years of community college. currently finishing up my 2nd year. transfer as a junior.
High School GPA: 2.45…not sure if that’s my cumulative one or not…2.7 weighted? not sure. horrid.
SAT/ACT score: 1800 (highest combination) horrid.
Extra Curricular: communications officer in a japanese club for a year. i volunteer every year at an international comic convention.
Comments: im just sharing my stats because FerPhys asked lol, please dont take these stats seriously, im not applying haha.
writing that out did help me assess my weaknesses and what i need to improve for even basic schools like UCs, so thanks for asking lol. i can’t change the past but i can at least work my current GPA back up and do some actual extracurriculars.
@otoribashi Just keep trying your best! You still have time to improve your GPA! My SAT score is 1760 and I just took it in January, don’t feel bad, that test is more about whether or not you can solve riddles in under 20min lol.
I have 2 Bs in my entire CC career, one in geometry (I didn’t do any hw and it was worth 11% of the grade lol fml, didn’t realize until the end of the semester, and a B in philosophy(i woke up late a lot and missed 2 quizzes, which stopped me from getting an A), only the philosophy one transfers. I’ve never gotten anything lower than an A on any of the “harder courses”, you shouldn’t either! That’s what they judge you on! Careful!
Hi, y’all.
Am I the only one constantly checking my application status? I check it a few times a day. Granted, I received both notifications of acceptance I’ve gotten at odd hours.
Major: Doubling in Linguistics and Anthropology
Current School: Community college in North Carolina
High School GPA: 3.66
Current GPA: 3.66
SAT Score: 2110
Extracurricular activities: Volunteering, theater, Classical League (a club that focuses on ancient Greece and Rome), art clubs, writing clubs, coaching writing, writing/publication (fiction and non-fiction), photography, mermaiding
Hook: Female Marine
Applied: USC, Pomona, UNC Chapel Hill, Stanford, Yale
Accepted: Pomona and UNC (no decisions from the rest of them yet…)
@fainfolly
I don’t think it’s healthy but I check a few times a day too lol.
But more importantly, yay! A fellow anthropology major! Best of luck to you.
