Guys, I applied REA with a dance portfolio and I was recently contacted for an interview this Saturday, are you guys giving alumni interviews too? I know it doesn’t matter a lot, but the interviewer is BIG in the tech world, and I rly wanna impress them and make sure it goes well, so how are y’all preparing?
@massie888 I DID AND I’M FREAKING OUT
@currentjunior why do you think so? I’m guessing bc of the election and covid, international students might be deterred from applying
@sadbabyyoda I think in general, less people are applying early bc they want to send in a test score or the virus in general keeps people busy
I just got one yesterday and I submitted an arts portfolio!
Hi guys,
I applied to Stanford REA as an senior in HS and submitted an arts portfolio for music (deadline on Oct. 15th). A couple of my friends who applied REA (didn't submit arts portfolio) got a request a couple of days after they submitted their applications on November 1st. I, however, did not receive a request for an interview. Does anybody know why? Or if there are any Stanford REA applicants that submitted applications with arts portfolios have any insights? Thanks guys!
yo does anybody know if getting an interview means anything like is it a good sign that i got one
does the interview mean anything though?
@ricecakedog @lincolnwillard nah guys, it purely depends on availability in your region and previously, only ten percent of the applicants were able to score interviews. But this year is different, everything is online, which means they’ll definitely be conducting a lot more interviews than in the previous years.
It’s not a good or a bad sign (since it is optional) but you should definitely take it otherwise Stanford may think that you aren’t that interested. As far as I’ve learned, it’s just a friendly conversation in which they’re trying to gage your personality and wether or not you’re the right fit for Stanford or not, and you get to find out more about their experience at Stanford (which is so cool).
Anyway, the interview can only decrease your chances unless you prove to be racist/homophobic/sexist and other disgusting things. And if it goes well, then it perhaps will increase your chances by 0.1 percent and let’s be honest, it’s Stanford, so even that is a lot. The interview may be able to heal the wounded but it will not raise the dead,
Anyway sry about this super long comment hehehe and good luck guys! Don’t be nervous, we’ve got this.
@currentjunior what portfolio did you submit? Painting, instrumental, dance, photography or…?
@CollegeSavant hey, I also submitted an arts portfolio under REA by 14th October and received an email yesterday, so they’ll probably send you one soon if they haven’t already. If they don’t, don’t worry about it, it doesn’t make you any less competitive than others, it’s simply due to lack of availability of time and resources
Hi, Has anyone gotten a reply from their interviewer yet? I emailed my interviewer back yesterday and they haven’t replied back yet. Is it normal?
Yeah I got mine. I interview on Wednesday.
@ricecakedog
mine is tomorrow she called me because i didn’t respond to her email after like 8 hours
@sadbabyyoda instrumental!
@ricecakedog same! And my interview is tonight. But they have all my contact information so they’ll just hopefully call me.
Did anyone have an interview yet? And if so how was it?
my son has his on Wednesday
Hii everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. I am actually an international student from Myanmar, and I applied to Stanford REA. I don’t seem to have had an interviewer contact me yet, so does anyone know the latest date on which interviewers contact students? Thank you!!
@mom2boys1999 I also have mine tomorrow…
