@dancer128 What kinds of questions were you asked? Was it more about your interests/why you want to go there or your life story?

@Alamere Yes, I was asked why I wanted to pursue my major at Stanford, what motivates me to learn, what experiences I value in my school/community etc. It’s just similar to a conversation to be very honest. Just be prepared to look think of specific times. For example, a specific time you showed leadership.
Good luck!

One question guys, Am I able to apply EA to University of Michigan if I applied REA to Stanford? I am an international student so I have no idea how this works. If someone could help me, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Happy to say my interview also went super well.
And yes @ricecakedog because it is public.

Hello!

I applied to Harvard REA this year, and submitted it on November 1. I am an international student, and still haven’t received an email for an interview. I was wondering if this meant that they already decided to reject me?

@ricecakedog Where is your international school?
@amazingflowers interview is optional, do not panic.

If you are a strong candidate, they don’t interview. So, we don’t know anything, be confident all the time. You have many chances until the end of college process. Good luck!

@dc12345 My school is in Kenya.

@ricecakedog , if you don’t mind me asking, what was your overall profile like? I have met many international students, but have never had a chance to interact with anyone from Kenya and am eager to learn

Either 3 or 4 weeks left until decisions! Do you guys think we will find out on the 4th or 11th? Last year they released decisions on Dec 6th.

@Arhaan , sorry I didn’t quite get your question. Are you asking about what I applied to Stanford/ all of my colleges with? Like GPA, extracurriculars e.t.c? I wouldn’t mind explaining it to you.

@ricecakedog yeah, that’s what I meant. Thanks a lot

I gave my interview last week and it was… strange. They asked me to tell them about myself, what I want to pursue, etc, but there weren’t really any specific, interesting questions I think? We ran out of time quick, and they told me the interview went well (and that I seem like a very motivated person?? idek) and that they’d write me a positive report and try their best to get me in, though admissions don’t depend on them. I don’t think interviewers are normally supposed to tell us anything related to that and idk I think it was weird. I don’t know if it went too well but they were super friendly and I definitely went in way too prepared. So just relax and have fun! I asked them loads of questions about Stanford, which was super intriguing.

Anyway guys, don’t forget to send them a thank you email five-ten minutes later! Good luck

@swn7403 I think we should definitely be prepared for them to come by 7th, just in case, but I think depending on region everyone should probably know by the 14th.

@hopeku actually, that’s inaccurate. They try to interview everyone they can, and it isn’t on the basis of our qualifications or the strength of our application, just region and availability. The admissions committee doesn’t assign interviews, the alumni association does.

For Stanford, this interview won’t affect the decision. But I think for other selective universities like the ivies, if you don’t get an interview, it’s because you’re already in and your application is pretty impressive alone, or your file is already in the denied pile. They only interview people they’re on the fence about. Not sure, though.

Only 3-4 weeks left guys, all the best! I’m super anxious but we’ll get through it.

@sadbabyyoda yes that’s correct. Also, they don’t due interviews in the SF Bay Area (Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa etc)

Every interviewer does it differently. My interview lasted an 1 1/2 hour, double the time it was supposed to be. The interviewers are on your side so be as detailed as possible about everything you’ve done, so you can give insight that goes deeper than your application. Being that you’re knowledgeable about what you’ve done over the past 3.5 years, just prepare for the question, “who are you?” Good luck. Also, write down a few non-generic questions to ask.
