Did any other CCer's apply to this program?

yep, i did

What is CCIS?

I did, too.

what do you do in the program?

bump...so did anyone else apply to this program. It's getting close to decisions date. I'm also curious if any CCers have attended this program. I really wanna go, it seems really cool.

Also, check this out. I was doing a little research on this program and I came across this. A bit scary...

Twenty-three stellar high-school students were selected from over 180 applicants to participate in an eight-week program of intensive research in the Center for Clinical Immunology at Stanford (CCIS) Summer Research Program. Most students were from the San Francisco Bay area, and "all had much higher SATs (an average of nearly 1550) and grades than I had!" noted P.J. Utz, M.D., Director of the Program.

don't be scared.....it's not that intimidating

oh, one of the kids from CCIS made it into INTEL STS Top 40 FInalists.

bump .

what does "bump" mean?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bump

To bump a thread on an internet discussion forum is to post a reply in order to raise the thread's profile by returning it to the top of the list of active threads.

Typically, a thread may be bumped after it has received no replies in several days, or when other (and for the bumper less significant) threads have knocked it off the front page.

BUMP is sometimes used as a backronym for "Bring Up My Post".

I applied too.
"Successful Candidates Announced (on this web page): April 15, 2005"
Today's already the 15th... does anyone know when it'll be posted?

Join the club. About 50 ppl have called the office, and we can't get a clear answer as to what's going on. A lab personnel specifically told me "for sure next week" and "maybe today" and "keep checking"

is it possible that they're not ready yet? like too many applicants to choose from? but they've had 3 months, so i don't know

I don't think that's exactly it. I think that they were prepared. But it very well could be that they weren't, nobody at Stanford does anything on time, from students to profs. A few other CCers and I think there may have been some type of emergency w/ the director of the program. But whatever it is, it's not very nice.

Ashveer, at what time did you call the lab? I called at ~4:10 or so, and they said it would be tonight. Well, everyone post your results when the candidates' names are posted.

So I take it no one's received any mail from CCIS yet? (either email or snail mail)

nope, no mail. and i didn't dare ask if they had even received my app

OK, good sign (not rejected YET). I can't believe I got up early to check the site. I'm beginning to wonder (based on what the lab personnel said to Ashveer) if we'll even know over the weekend.

Juliee!!!!!!

Ashveeeer!!!!!
