My friend from Fremont imed and said he sent another email to Dr. Utz (TABOO!) asking when we'll find out. And now:
SUSPENSE.

that would be funny if they canceled the whole program....

ok well, funny for me

Sending another e-mail like that might not be in your friend's best interest. Dr. Utz might consider your friend a pest and squash his/her application!

yea well, we've paid our dues (3 months of wait) and I expected to find out on April 15th. This extra wait has destroyed my whole weekend.

GSP: True while that may not have been in his best interest, you have to understand our plight. We made a commitment to turn in our applications on time (Jan 27th I think) and at that time, there was a commitment made to this past Friday. I do understand completley the Dr.'s situation and I wouild rather wait longer, than have the quality of the program suffer. I mean, even if I don't get it, I'd be happy for the person who got into the last lab that they found at the last minute, even if it was at the expense of everyone's weekend.

And I hope Rbdb3r doesn't gets rejected from a JC.

btw, Ashveer, is ur friend from MSJ?

PS, i'm from Fremont too. But then again, indians in fremont come a dime a dozen.

it's up! didn't get in though :-(

looks like avalon got in....good job!

Ah, now starts the process of finding a lab to take me...

I'M SO THRILLED!!! shrieks for joy, jumps up and down, faints, recovers, repeats

Congrats Julie! We'll meet up for lunch or something.

lol, yeah, my treat! ;)

Actually, before I go off and do my own thing, congrats to ALL of you who applied on your applications and hard work -- it's so unfortunate that they could pick only a few people, and it would have been so fun to do the "CC lab" thing. Alas! I know this sounds really trite, but you guys gave it an A+ effort. You're awesome, and hopefully I'll meet up with you at some point. If you ever have any questions about the program, feel free to PM me.

-Julie :)

argh. I feel so bad that I didn't apply.

It turns out that 3 people from my high school went last year too!!!

I thought that I would revive this thread now that we're in the whole waiting period. Who else on CC applied?:

the thing is...the whole program is geared towards people in the SF area.

oh, one of the kids from CCIS made it into INTEL STS Top 40 FInalists.

Yeah, the guy was pretty talented. I saw him at the local science fair with the same project that he did for CCIS, I think. Eventually made it in to Harvard. His sister plays in the same orchestra as I do.

CCISers (?) are in general pretty successful too, I'd think. Or at least the two that I know are, one of whom is Avalon. Both got into Stanford EA this year.

Did you apply this year, kchen?

Avalon is doing crazy cool stuff with her research too!

No, but I would've if I were given the chance to. Unfortunately, I am very limited on summer programs for this upcoming summer. I will be touring with my orchestra in China from June 20 - June 4. There goes my chances for applying to RSI, TASP, CCIS, and the such. I'm going to find something to do for the rest of summer.
