***Stanford Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

@emenya haha you could always choose to not check your admission status until later :)

@AnonCanon‌ I’m a QuestBridge Finalist. Questbridge finalists find out about their decision on December 1. (I wish I could say I was this person Stanford is actively pursuing and they’re making sure they give me my decision first  )

@zgamergirl Lol but I am sooo impatient! I’d probably draw myself away and not look at the decision for like 5 minutes… then I’ll rip open the email :D

Well, I had my Stanford interview and it went pretty well. We talked for a hour and a half. I sure hope that I get in.

@Hawkace that’s great! What was your biggest take away from the interview?

@emenya That I need to get better at interviews. It was my first interview, but we talked for so long, so I think that the interviewer will write a good report.

I feel similar, mine lasted about 2 hours and this was my first interview but I think we hit it off and connected. I’m sure it wasn’t exceptional in interviewer’s mind but hey, it wasn’t bad.

Ok so this one thing has been bugging me for quite a while now. I just gave my subject tests yesterday and my Math Level 2 test was really bad (I’ll probably get like a 770-780:Not competitive for the uber braniac Indian applicant pool, and a decent 790 on the Physics SAT). Stanford says that I can definitely send my scores as they will be added to my file. But I don’t want slightly weaker SAT subject tests to be the cause of a rejection. Will not sending those scores reduce my chances? Any advice would be appreciated.(Please do take into consideration that almost every REA applicant from India will have an 800 on their subject tests because of the sheer rigour of the academic curriculum).

Does not getting an interview immediately mean that I’m going to be denied admission? I live in Maryland so I should get something at least…

No of course not @AndrewJeska‌ ! Stanford makes it clear that not everyone will get an interview, so it is not held against you if you do not get an interview. Don’t stress about it too much, you’ll be fine.

Don’t worry. Even Stanford’s common data set lists interviews under the “considered” section. I assume it won’t be playing such a big part in it. I also know about people who have gotten in without interviews so don’t let it bother you.

Had my interview today. It went extremely well! I wonder how significant interviews are. They’re probably not that big of deal since not everyone gets one.

@ivyaspirant14 relax! Anything 750+ is considered competitive. Your scores will certainly not reduce your chances, as there is very little difference between a 770 and 790. You seem like a very qualified candidate; good luck!

I wish I could get an interview!!! I live in South Carolina, so they aren’t even offered. I wonder why? I guess there aren’t enough applicants?

Or a lack of willing alumni, maybe.

@imagineer10. Stanford only recently started offering interviews in the past 3 years or so as a pilot program. They still don’t offer interviews to the majority of the applicants in this country, including the biggest state California (where Stanford is located) and most of the foreign countries including the largest countries Canada, China or India (where many of their applicants reside)…

…it is still in its roll-out phase and has not been fully implemented…far from it…

…and trust me, there are so many California/bay-area students just like you who would love to be interviewed…

Hi everyone! I’ve been a lurker but i decided to come out and join the conversations. I applied REA and just had an interview today; I wish the best of luck to everyone here!

Yay for lurkers! (I see you reading this post. Do it. Make an account. Just do it  ) Welcome to everyone again!

@jk1324‌ and @KelMoo‌ what was the biggest takeaway from your interview? A best and worst part you’d like to share? Well, really anyone who’s had an interview so far and would like to answer.

I kind of don’t feel so bad anymore knowing that California doesn’t get interviews. LOL (good-naturedly)

Hi @emenya! I would say the interview went pretty well. My interviewer was really nice and I guess the best part for me was when she told me that she could tell I was really passionate about my planned major (Computer Science) and that I’m lucky to have found a passion so early. The “worst part” i would say is that my interview was pretty short; it lasted for about 30 minutes but then again, at one point, I rambled on for so long that she said i ended up answering all her questions anyways haha. Hopefully I left a good impression on her!

I had my interview on Sunday ;-; Guy was pretty chill. It was a really relaxed interview…he came in flip flops.

The best part about the interview was his interest in my art. I happened to bring my sketchbook along and he looked thoroughly impressed by it which made me very happy ^^ We also happened to share the same interests which was great because I could ramble abit about Econs.

The worst part was definitely that he was extremely distracted. He brought his kid along…She was a little noisy, albeit very cute, and she kept spilling soup all over the place haha. I also had the feeling he had to rush back somewhere. We met in a medical center so I think maybe one of his other kids might be sick…? I don’t know but I felt really bad for taking up his time…

@AnonCanon What’s axess email? How did you find out your SAT scores have been processed? Thanks!
