My interviewer actually told me to feel free and reach out to him if I had any questions. That’s weird that she said that.

@predent
Yeah that’s interesting. My interviewer also told me to not contact him till after decisions come out.

@Hawkace I’m in central NJ

@predent and @theanaconda. It is kosher and appropriate to send a thank you note by email or snail-mail whichever you prefer. On the other hand interviewers do not want to be hounded with questions related to “admissions” until decisions are made…you can understand why…

Said this before, but idk if anyone saw it: shouldn’t decisions be coming out on the 12th? I know the absolute latest is going to be the 15th, but historically Stanford releases decisions a little early and on Friday.

@starbreath yeah but I rather not have false hope for the 12th. I’ll check on Friday though.

@gravitas2
Awesome, thanks so much!

Did people that applied early action already submit their css profile? My family’s final income/financial situation won’t clear up until after the year has ended, so after talking to Stanford’s financial aid department, we’re going to wait to submit it. They said that it won’t affect your package and if you turn it in by the deadline you’ll still get it in time, but you just won’t get it with your decision on 12/15

Hey @ccggp101 , I submitted my CSS profile before the deadline, but Questbridge Finalists have to have it in by the deadline. I’m assuming that you’re not QuestBridge, so the CSS is not mandatory for your decision. Like they said, your FA package won’t come with the 12/15 decision, and I think it is like this at most schools.

@Hawkace Makes sense Hopefully they won’t just dump it on us without warning, though. I think they’ve released it as early as the 9th in the past., which is kinda awesome and kinda terrifying.

I’m in northern NJ and I have my interview tomorrow! Any pointers?

What is the CSS? Is that something I need to do? And when?

CSS Profile - financial aid application if you need it.

It’s the financial aid program used by many colleges but not FAFSA. It’s not government based.

From collegeboard:

FAFSA is government aid and CSS is where the institutional grants come from. So while top schools like Stanford and Harvard don’t give merit scholarships, they do give out institutional grants to families who need aid in order to cover the high costs of tuition and board. That’s my understanding of it.

Thanks @pacnwmomof2 - it helps to hear that others have had similar experiences, unfortunate as that is. I thought about letting Stanford admissions know about it, but then decided it really wasn’t worth it. Maybe she just didn’t take to my daughter somehow - my daughter is actually more interested in Brown anyway, but hopefully she doesn’t get the same interviewer your daughter had! As I mentioned before, my older daughter had a fantastic interview with a different Stanford alum two years prior and left the interview feeling excited about Stanford and positive about herself. So you just never know!

To you applicants from California, is this biting arctic cold affecting you all out west? I’m freezing down here - in Texas!

29 days at max. :))

@emenya In LA, it’s still in the 60’s and 70’s Which is “cold” for here. Windy today, though.

@emenya I’m a fellow Texan! Texas weather is way too bipolar :)) It’s supposed to warm up a bit again later this week though!
