Sorry about that mate @drblack . Is it too late to register for a wait list seat?

Same as inagineer Happy Thanksgiving to you all (hopefully my new fam)

@emenya its just that, well here’s my situation
i have already take two subject test, US History and Spanish. did really bad on the spanish test (680) so I planned on taking the mah II to supplant that. I actually registered for the math II for next saturday, but, Life happened and I am far from ready(or atleast I don’t think I am). My ACT scores r decent on their own and I even plan on taking it again. I still want to take the Math II test cause other schools I’m applying to outright require two scores and I want them to be high(i know i can get a high score in math if i feel properly prepared) and most of them accept the January test date.

well a 680 spanish isn’t horrible if it isn’t native speaker taking the test. I think they’re a bit more lenient with foreign languages.

@drblack schools require SAT II even if you submit the ACT?

Stanford doesn’t require Subject Tests. And I think for Yale, if you take the ACT you don’t have to submit SAT II. But remember, if you take SAT you have to submit all scores. But this is irrelevant for Stanford. I’m not sure about other schools.

@tyrion14 its not as common but the school I was thinking of is Princeton.
@predent you think so? dont want to take any chances when the acceptance rate is like, what, 5%?

@drblack
the 5% accepted aren’t the 5% with the best scores. Yes, they have good scores, but the 5% have the best essays. I suggest you put more time into essays than preparing for/taking another test. Make yourself shine through and then you’ll really have a better chance of “beating the odds.”

I perked up when you said essays @predent My scores aren’t in the top 5%, but I feel that my essays are! We’ll just see if Stanford agrees with me haha!

@emenya I think that’s definitely what matters! I mean who does Stanford want on campus next year, and then in a few more years, representing them and carrying them around? Students who can test well, or students who are real people and actually want to do something with their lives and what they have around them? I think, and I hope, the latter.

The latter will get my vote each and every time ;)

@predent you’re so right and I needed to hear that. thank you so much

@drblack Of course!

It is 1:37 AM and I am watching videos of people reacting to their Stanford acceptances/rejections… This is a problem.

@KelMoo I was doing that last year, haha! They actually have this REALLY good promotional video (what really made me fall in love) on YouTube but I’m refusing to watch it again (though it would be for maybe the 13th or so time) unless I get accepted.

@predent I keep trying to tell myself that I won’t cry if I am rejected, but let’s be real here… whether I am rejected or accepted, I will be bawling my eyes out. Haha

does anybody know how many applicants there were for early action?

@KelMoo I do that way more than I should. I even watch the same ones over and over, because their reactions make me feel better! @predent I will be doing that too, and I have already accepted it.

@hopefulstanford
No, sorry. I’ve been looking and can’t find anything. I assume they won’t release it until much later (closer to, if not even the day of or after the date of decisions). Last year they published such info online on December 13th, the day most got notified.

Oh good, I thought I was alone watching the Stanford videos :)
