***Stanford Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

Does it count if I live in an obscure part of Texas?

Wait @detwylder‌ and @mtnclimber‌ , is the two weeks between Christmas break and finals used for reviewing or do you learn new material? I think I’d die with another long break before finals.

My mom’s birthday is Friday…

Hey I’m new to this thread! So what’s the deal with the decisions? We might hear FRIDAY instead of Monday? Insert butterflies in stomach!

Guessing California @OrangeLand‌ or nah?

And what is with all these birthdays on decision day??? At least my birthday is so far away from anything; June. (Shoutout to the cancers)

We don’t have block scheduling, just a 6 period day with a late in, one lunch, shortened period Wednesday. We convert to block for two finals days at the end of each semester.
@emenya‌ I suppose it’s a mix of the two, depending on the class and teacher. The terrible thing is that having the two weeks post break/pre final is really inconvenient and just generally not conducive to new material nor review… :-??

My friends have already been told by their schools when decisions are coming out, I just want something final from Stanford so I know when to be nervous for!
… Does that make sense?

@emenya nope I’m in Texas :)

My own birthday’s in July.

I’ve read a lot of these posts and I feel that same as a lot of you. I’m trying to prepare myself for rejection but there’s still that tiny glimmer of hope in the back of my mind… been a nervous wreck all week.

Ugh don’t have finals until the last week of January becuase we start school so late out here in CA

@emenya‌
hey i’m a juner too. You never know, maybe you’ll be admitted off the waitlist on your birthday (one my frined’s last year got into columbia off of a waitlist in june). :smiley:

Yea, I’m in Florida and our finals are late January so we have a weird two week space between break and exams.

@emenya I’m same as @mtnclimber‌ and @detwylder‌ , no finals until mid January. but we use the two weeks after new years for new material at my school. its pretty much my nightmare (not as bad as this feeling of purgatory i have while waiting now, but still… :wink: )

Hey Everyone! I’ve been looking at this thread since it has been in the single digit page numbers. I forgot my password and email… I’m from a small, economically challenged town in Iowa. I have a 4.5 GPA on a 4 point scale and will have an associates degree from our community college by May. I am anxiously awaiting Stanford’s decisions and am attempting to stay detached from them. I also attend classes/intern at UNMC and found out this week that my professor over there is on the Stanford Admission’s Board. So I can’t even go to school in the morning without thinking about the decisions awaiting us within the upcoming week.

My school district used to have finals the 1st/2nd week in mid-January, but apparently the district was getting lots of complaints from parents about students studying over Winter Break and not having enough fun. So now our finals are next week!

Well I submitted the wrong letter of rec (it was still good, just not the one I meant to send to Stanford and naviance is frustrating), found a typo on my activites, and didn’t send my act scores (which I wouldn’t have seen the results from until after the deadline and it was my first time taking it) which turned out to be significantly better than my SATs so I’ve got all that going for me…

If it makes you feel any better I spelled “uninformed” “uniformed” on one of my short answer responses @ccggp101‌

@ccggp101‌
haha what was the context?

@CBBoy15‌
Dang! You either got extremely lucky or extremely screwed. Your professor is on the admissions board? Did you do well in the class/make a decent relationship with the professor? If so, then that could be a HUGE advantage on your decision. If not, I don’t know if it would hurt you, but that could inevitably have an effect on your outcome. I hope everything works out for you, though. And just out of curiosity, are you getting your associates as a senior in high school or have you already graduated and you are applying as a transfer?

I found a few comma errors and thought of this magnificent way to reword a part of my first essay… which Stanford shall never know. X_X

Do you guys think making 1000 cranes before
Friday is possible…?
