***Stanford Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

I suppose you could go from REA to RD to the waitlist but I didn’t think Stanford accepted anyone from the waitlist last year

@ccggp101‌ She was deferred REA then waitlisted RD
@tankfrank13‌ yup they accepted 7 out of about 700 kids on the wait list (<a href=“Stanford Common Data Set | University Communications”>Stanford Common Data Set | University Communications)

Dang, talk about cutting it close @digony‌

I forgot about time change! Oops. Can you tell I’m exhausted? @Hawkace‌

@OrangeLand‌ - that was the case last year. I believe Stanford deferred slightly fewer than 600 while accepting slightly more than 750. Personally, I think this is preferable to what some of the other top schools do, which can be to defer 75 - 80% of early applicants. Why string folks along like that? A deferral at Stanford “means” more. Historically, in the regular round, Stanford has accepted apporximately 15% of those deferred from REA.

My ds went from deferred to accepted. He is now a happy frosh at Stanford. :slight_smile: It was, however, a looooong winter.

This parent is rooting for all of you! I know the waiting is tough. Hang in there.

Damn no word on when it comes yet?

@theanaconda ikr

@digony I heard that people who get accepted from the waitlist can get notified after the admissions acceptance deadline, not sure if this is true?

@theanaconda I suspect that delaying the deadline for REA had an impact.

@Hoggirl Thanks for the info!

Did they delay the deadline this year? @LunarEngineer‌

But Stanford usually announces the notification date on the day of or the day before. Last year was somewhat of an anomaly. Here’s an FAQ thread that is super helpful: <a href=“Stanford SCEA REA Early Action FAQs - Stanford University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/1429929-stanford-scea-rea-early-action-faqs.html</a></p>

@tankfrank13‌ Sorry, that was last year. I didn’t look too closely at the date on the article at the time and it didn’t matter too much to me at the time.

I think that everyone needs to relax a bit. Last year, they announced when they were releasing the decisions on December 10th at 9:08 pm EST. That correlates to December 9th at 9:08 pm which is in 30-something minutes.

Can you explain the concept of “relax” to me…? X_X

My dad called earlier to ask, the lady he spoke to said she wasn’t entirely sure yet, but that she thought they’d probably release on Monday.

I really don’t think you can trust anything you hear on the phone with Stanford, they would never release the actual date to one person without releasing it officially

Hmmm…well 9:08 is in 8 minutes… I guess we will see
@Hawkace‌

4 minutesssss… the stress heightens

I get that everyone is eager to get their decision, but does it matter when they announce the actual time that the decisions will be sent? We know it will be before Monday, and an extra couple of days isn’t too bad. The way I see it, finding out exactly what time you will find out your decision will only stress you out more.

The last of the admission office’s worries right now is announcing the release time at the exact time as last year. I would much rather have them worrying about finalizing each decision.
