Anyone have summer plans? I saw that Tobster18 is doing NIH lol
i was being too nosy
@anonymous0320 Congrats on getting into RSI! That is a HUGE accomplishment!!! You have a very good shot at Stanford, not because you are participating in RSI, but because RSI is so hard to get into that only the best of the best in the nation get in. I would say that you have little to worry about.
@pinkbarbie Stanford is REA, or Restrictive Early Action, meaning it’s not binding, but you can’t apply early to other private schools.
@MatthewW12 what is RSI?
It’s an extremely competitive summer program at MIT. Only 80 juniors from around the world are selected to go.
@Top10Squad Where are you from?
@MatthewW12 Morocco!! International power! Don’t need financial aid, though, so it makes it easier for me.
Lol, in my country only 500 people take the SAT each year (highest score nationally was 1560/1600 in 2016 and 2300/2400 in 2015) and I believe that less than 15 apply to Stanford (many apply to Harvard/MIT). That said, 0-1 applicants get in each year, so my odds are about the same as everyone.
Where are you from?
I live in the Bay Area, about 1h 30m from Stanford. Unfortunately, it’s very competitive for California residents.
Maybe if we’re both lucky we’ll meet each other at Stanford!!
Wow, this thread is actually getting some traction.
@MathewW12 Hopefully so!
@Tobster18 Lol, yeah, didn’t expect this either. I mean 2021 decisions aren’t even out for another 8 days and we’ve already got 31 posts on here. 2022 FTW!
Lol I created this not expecting ANYONE to join.

Quick Question: Do you guys think that High income offsets First Generation status?
Basically, is my first generation status still put into consideration even though I come from a high income household?
Just wondering if colleges look for first generation status to be coupled with low income.
Please let me know!
@MatthewW12 Thanks for the kind words! However, there is never a guarantee for schools like Stanford. I will keep trying my best, and I hope everyone on this thread will as well
@anonymous0320 That is very true. I hear the admissions process referred to a “Crap Shoot” pretty often
@MattewW12 I don’t really think admissions is a crapshoot. If you fit well with the school, you’ll get in, simple as that. What’s hard is trying to draft an application that effectively represents you in a pdf document.
I absolutely agree. However, Stanford is especially quirky when it comes to admissions.
It’s not a crapshoot, that’s just something that people who get rejected say in order to feel better
