Yeah my son got that diversity email too. It seems pretty generic. My son is applying via Questbridge. , but also has some legacy with his grandfather and great grandfather.
@gurt567 really? I called today and they said they don’t know yet
@jhunt23 I put the exact same majors as you in that same order too. wow what a coincidence
Does anybody happen to know why Stanford’s arts supplement is due tomorrow? Totally slipped my mind…
@emeraldhearts39 I believe it is because the arts faculty will review the component first and rate it before sending the results to the AOs
@emeraldhearts39 they want to make sure that students submitting art supplements can have their talents considered by people who teach in the field before admissions officers read an application. Part of it has to do with Stanford trying to expand their arts programs
@emeraldhearts39 be aware, if you are submitting an arts supplement you must submit the rest of your application by the same deadline.
@compSciLover Let’s hope we both get in then it will be one hell of a ‘coincidence’
@jhunt23 haha true. I’ll ask you when decisions come out. It would be pretty cool if we both got in
Is it definitely 4 pm on the 7th?
@bowdowntobowties no. I called them today again and they said it still not confirmed
Based on past years, it still seems Friday, Dec. 14th is the “last Friday before Dec. 15th” so it would be 12/14/18 @ 3-4pm PST (not Dec. 7th) - I guess we’ll find out by next Friday if it’s the 7th or the 14th! Different question –
Does anyone know if the REA acceptance rate is a teeny bit higher than the approximately 4.5% RD acceptance rate?
@1stimer the rea acceptance rate is around 10% I think, but I don’t think it’s any “easier” to get in, as most of the early applicants are much more competitive and qualified, “the best of the best”
I think it low key helps your chances a bit though to apply early
@compSciLover oh definitely. that’s why I applied early definitely getting my hopes up too much though we’ll see soon…
@compSciLover What made you choose this profile picture? I just couldn’t stop myself from asking this question
I’m from Canada, and my interview went really well. Even being an alum and having interviewed other hopeful students, she said my answers were really impressive and unique. I’m torn because my GPA is really high, my SAT score is sub-par, and my extracurriculars are very strong and rare. I also have some connections to admissions. I’m worried about my SAT score dragging me down and I want to see the decision already!
I’m from Lebanon and I’m also worried about my scores although they’re within range. I hope financial aid won’t hurt the chances. The day is almost there!
@jhunt23 my mom really likes tangerines and so I took some pictures of them for my photography project and it was the first thing that popped up on my desktop when I was looking for a profile picture lol
Stanford released a statement in a letter sent home to legacy parents that a legacy applicant has a 3x greater chance of getting in. Does anyone have any ideas to how this would factor into someone who has quadruple legacy? Would the likelihood of acceptance grow higher (than a 3x greater chance) as the applicant’s legacy increases? For instance two legacies = 6x greater chance etc…
