thats the point, hockey's not a sport, thus it takes no skill...i haven't watched enough water polo to determine whether or not it is a sport, but it does take substantially more skill and stamina than hockey does

can we please stop having web (s)(e)(x) on this thread

This is a funny conversation...I really don't get why you think hockey isn't a sport. I can understand where you're getting at with golf. I don't think golf is much of a sport either. But, hockey is another story.

How is it a sport? Because you have to put in time and effort to be good at it. You need to do everything for baseball, basketball, tennis, etc. that you do for hockey. You need to be in shape....I mean I could go on and on. It's one of the most difficult sports around.

dontcha..you're a straight up fool. Ice hockey is the second toughest sport of all, according to ESPN and according to "a group made up of sports scientists from the United States Olympic Committee, of academicians who study the science of muscles and movement, of a star two-sport athlete, and of journalists who spend their professional lives watching athletes succeed and fail." The only sport that tops hockey in difficulty level is boxing.

Yeah, I've seen that article. It's pretty sweet. That's rated based on physical adeptness though...not "skill", though you could argue any sport requires skill.

To any prospective students reading this thread, please keep in mind that "dontcha" is NOT a Stanford student, nor with such a closeminded and irrational attitude is he likely to be one (although stranger things have happened).

There's a professional league...it's not a recreational activity. I've played essentially every sport there is and I cant say I have a clue why you would say hockey is less of a sport than anything else. This is going from not funny to downright unintelligent.

If you were here, I'd say it to your face. I dont see how I could accomplish that in any other way than through the web. You've already lost, so I suggest you avoid name calling.

Yeah...lets not play dirty now. We're not trying to argue anything except that you are narrow-minded to think that hockey is not a sport and just a recreation based solely on bias. What aspects of hockey do you consider "unsportly"?
