Does anyone know anything about Stanford's club hockey team? Is it hard to make the team? (I'm from Minnesota so even though I couldn't make varsity at my large high school, I feel like I'd be pretty good compared to other hockey players around the country).

lololololololololololololol

nice...another hockey player! i dont think that you have to "make" the team, i'm sure they accept everyone. It probably just depends on if they have good players that year. I'm also interested in the team, that is, if im accepted.

hockey's white trash, in my humble opinion

^ why the hockey bashing? what sport do you like? let me guess - futbol?

Does playing on a club hockey team that goes all over the united states help my chances? (For those hockey players who understande what this is, Im playing juniors next year too) any help? (good student but i just wanted to know if a large hockey commitment helps).

By the way hockey66585, you should make the team, but dont underestimate ACHA teams

LOL @ Hockey being white trash. hahahahh that's far from true....

ps. to dontcha...

Not Many other sports have top New England prep schools such as EXETER and CHOATE as some of top recruiting places for colleges/ hockey players from all over the country go to those schools

Not many "white trash" people could afford the equipment or fees to play hockey (especially a travel team)...

^seriously??
All you need is a stick, ice, four wives who could also be your sisters, two teeth, and a job at the gas station

LOL...seriously. Try pricing pads, helmets, sticks, uniforms...more $ if you want to be a goalie.

You must've had some bad experiences with hockey players in your past.

i just don't think its legit, joining golf and lacrosse in the "not a sport" club

i give credit to soccer, football, basketball, baseball, etc.

plus, canadians play hockey...need i say more

last word

Haha, hockey is a club sport at 'furd because it's a California school. If Stanford were located in Minnesota or the Northeast, it would have a varsity hockey team, and be a "legit" sport.

As a Californian to another fellow Californian, expand your mind a little, dontcha. It's a big world out there.

Take care.

I cant believe I'm reading this crap. What exactly makes it a 'not a sport' member?

uhhhh, it takes no skill, for one...I think we should just drop this topic, nobody's views are going to change

No, I'm not dropping it. Hockey takes no skill? Do you play? Have you played? On what basis does hockey take no skill?

How is skating on ice while trying to manipulate a fist sized puck with guys chasing you with long sticks not skill lol.

you can just beat the sh** out of people w/ your stick, slap aimlessly at the puck, and win...I don't know if that takes too much skill

dontcha, have you played water polo before? If so, do you consider it a sport? Hockey is like water polo, IMO.

All sports take skill...certain ones take more stamina, strength, accuracy, speed, or agility yeah. It all depends. But, to say that a sport takes no prowess is wrong...
