The replies are gonna be completely generic. Individual reps only mail you if they personally want to know something…

ah. so i guess no knowing the results from reading the subject line? rats.

I haven’t talked to my rep since friday…my counselor called and talked to her that day too and that’s when she said the stuff about presenting my case tuesday.

What region are you from Sea Legs?

Texas!

Tonia Bradt is my rep.
she’s really nice.

extended, extended waitlist.

^Same here…

extended extended waitlist.

what are the chances you think of additional ppl being taken off? i really don’t kno if it’s worth it to be strung along any more…

^Very little…

I’m extended extended waitlist too…darling, I thought you would get in for sure…you had the AdCom email. Sea Legs, did you get in?

Was anybody rejected? I guess there are still 685-695 people on the waitlist?

LOL i knew even with the adcom email, there wasn’t really much chance as people from the first round still didn’t get in and had gotten the same email.

Yeah, I really don’t think there’s much chance at all of being taken off at this point. What I’m rather upset at, is how Stanford is going about their waitlists. I really don’t think they should have sent out interest emails. I kno other colleges just directly take people off, they don’t sent out interest emails like Stanford does and then not take people off the waitlist.

Yeah, that’s really unfair. They should definitely reject some people from the waitlist. That way, it thins the list out, and gives closure to others.

I don’t think anyone was rejected. Do you think the other 20 people received interest emails earlier on after the first waitlist?

yeah. it’s just unfair to string people along and raise hopes but then just leave them still on the WL. I would be totally fine with still staying on the WL if I hadn’t received this email. Now it just makes me upset cuz it seems like I came so close but it still wasn’t enough.

Hm. Stanford’s admissions are so whacko at this point I really have no idea. I do know that one of the people who was taken off the WL in the first round, did not recieve an interest email actually and they called his counselor instead and were really suprised when they heard he actually still had doubts about attending Stanford (though he did end up chosing Stanford in the end).

To me it basically seems that they pre-screened everyone’s interest out of the 20 that they accepted, by asking their Guidance Counselors, and that if any of the 20 don’t end up taking their offer, they will go back to the waitlist. Meaning, most of the 20 if not all, will accept. What do you think Darling?

I got in! :)

Stanford does what they perceive is in their best interest. Fairness is not part of the equation. It’s interesting how they hedge their bets and check to see if an applicant is still interested at this point. If they haven’t wanted you yet, they probably don’t deserve you.

So the ones they really wanted they called the guidance counselors, and the others they were somewhat interested in they only emailed? Still seems a really unfair way to go about it to me. I do think that putting low-income on my app def hurt me tho as all colleges are hurting for $$ at this point.

I really do think all 20 will accept. I mean, out of the 85 only 20 people didn’t accept… the odds of anybody getting off the WL at this point is basically impossible. Esp if they prescreened for interest.

oh i didn’t see this before I posted: congrats Sea Legs!

I am an international, got the interest email in the first round – put on extended waitlist again. Yea it’s discouraging, but don’t give up under any circumstances – if not waitlist, there is always transfer to try. Didn’t see the earlier post – congrats Sea Legs!

Sea Legs, was the financial aid you received decent, in comparison to what your other school gave you?

Congratulations Sea Legs!

I won’t get the FA information until Friday, according to the e-mail.
but i sure hope it is!
