stanford gpa for premed/bioengineering???

I've just been accepted into Stanford, Penn, Brown, and MIT...heading for med school or bioengineering. Currently I'm leaning towards Stanford for undergrad but I'm kinda scare because someone on this board said that they weed out their premed students. Can someone describe what it takes to maintain a decent gpa at stanford for med school (I don't know what would be decent...how hard is a 3.75 or greater??) and what the average gpa is???

I know alot of this makes me sound like a psycho freak but I just want to look for the best option possible. My parents are financing my education and I just dont want all the money to be wasted. Also, can anyone comment on the gpas at other schools - MIT, Penn, or Brown?

Finally, does stanford have a plus or minus system or just straight a/b

I heard at Brown you can drop a class right up until the last day before the final. So you're probably never going to be in a situation where you don't know what grade you are going to get.

I think the average GPA at MIT is about 4.1-4.3 (out of 5.0), although science classes are graded on not such a harsh curve. (When I was there, common knowledge was that the average undergrad GPA was 4.1, but I recently looked at a stat list for the living groups (mainly frats, which accounts for 60% of the guys), and their average GPA was 4.2-4.3.)
