The coach should be able to give you a much better opinion than anyone here.

i meant that im an athlete currently, but im not sure if i would want to play at stanford... i just wanted chances as an applicant

Hi Speedy789!

Whether you chances will be boosted based on your status as an athlete is wholly dependent on the fact whether the Stanford coaches decide to recruit you. If you are indeed a recruit, the coaches will notify the admission office and pressure the officers to let you through. Without it, you'll still be in the same crowd as us normal Joes.

Other than that, I'll start off by giving you a standard eval. Your W GPA looks good ... if it's a 4.2 out of a 4.3 (UC Regents average?) but I'd be a little concerned if it's a 4.54 out of 5, because that might be deemed as a little low. Other than that, your course rigor is just about average for a CCer here applying to Stanford. On a personal note, as a Latin student in HS, I'm happy to see that you've taken Latin in HS --- that's is quite unique compared to everyone who takes Spanish or French. Bravo!

Now moving on to your test scores. Your score of 31 on the ACT is pretty good. If you do get a 32 or 33, I don't really think that it'll change your chances of admission that much, because of the fact that admission officers read your app holistically (the big picture). Stanford also recommends 2 or 3 SAT Subjects, so you should consider having some scores on hand. I'm not sure whether it's too late to take it any more, because as far as I'm concerned, I'm done with my SATs for the rest of my life.

Other than that, I can see that you are quite the scholar athlete. You have obviously been very active in sports in HS, and it shows in your activity list. If you particularly enjoy playing, say, soccer, feel free to talk about it in your EC essay so that admission officers can understand what it truly means to you, giving us a picture of who you are. I also like the fact that you've done work outside the classroom in economics with your Hahvahd SSP program, and no doubt that the admission officers will like it too because not everyone takes econ classes at prestigious classes (I went to Summer@Brown this summer so I'll say that my experiences were much better ... but that's my opinion that I'll save for another occasion). Other than that, there isn't much else that stands out EC wise.

Overall, you're the typical scholar-athlete applying to Stanford. Sure, balancing that busy academic life and sports schedule must have been tedious and admission officers will like seeing that dedication, but there isn't much else that distinguishes you from the rest of the crowd. Be sure to spend quality time with your essays - don't rush - so that the admission officers will know that you're really interested in attending their school.

what do you mean "4.54 out of 4.2" with your GPA?

b.c a 4.0 is an A+ which is a 95,

I'd say you're a solid applicant. Not everyone applying to Stanford is a student-athlete. But, from what I could tell from Stanford and other top schools, they look for a fit in the application. So, most of this would be from your essays. And, the Stanford community is top-notch AND chill, which is rare in its own right.

good luck tho! I would love to go to Stanford, but I didnt apply cuz I live in the East coast, kinda expensive traveling back and forth
