According to their website Stanford admitted 738 out of 4,551 SCEA applicants for an admission rate of 16.2%. According to the CC website 28 out of 51 posters were admitted to Stanford SCEA for an admission rate of 54.9%. The deferral rate for cc posters was 27.4% and the rejection rate was a mere 17.6%. What does this say about the CC applicant pool?

That CC posters are more likely the most involved students when it comes to their educational future. I would believe that most CC members are people who like to talk about college. It logical. If you ask the average student at a school if they have heard of CC, they would say no, but if you ask the top students, you will get many more confirmation responses.

A few CCers stated that they applied to Stanford elsewhere on the site but declined to state whether they had been deferred, accepted, or rejected. Also, an accepted applicant is more likely to state their status than a rejected status.

But despite that, the members here on CC definitely show intellectual vitality of different sorts. Its always interesting to hear a fellow teen's perspective on a political issue or scientific breakthrough - it's not very common in our high school, so to find it here is very refreshing. I have no doubt in my mind that the CCers here that were rejected or deferred will attend an excellent school and thrive in their respective environments :-)

Remember this is the internet, so it must be true!

:)
with all that positive banter, friedrice, are you planning on a nobel peace prize too ...?
:D

well... I know that once I checked and found that I got rejected I didn't even bother going back to Stanford forum until right now...
