The % Accepted/Deferred/Rejected this year is out!!

applicants SCEA: 4,300
accepted: 20% around 900
defered: 1,164
rejected: 2236

Thanks vaish88 for find it.
Anyone know what they were last year?

I know there were around 4,100 applicants and they ended up taking around 800.

-Ender

For anyone wondering about the percentage-breakdown (take from the data in the original post):

accepted: 900 ----- 20.9 %
defered: 1,164 ----- 27.1 %
rejected: 2236 ----- 52.0 %

Total: 4300 --------- 100.0 %

rejected: 2236 ----- 52.0 %

this datum scares me. a lot.

no kiddding. What was worse was talking to a kid who was like, "well i could look you up on our database, but i can't tell you."

they deferred A LOT

i didnt think they would do that.. , im being deferred if not outright rejected then. * *** ****.

yeah they did. does anyone know how many ppl who were defered got in last yr? Is it just false hope, or is it, good. i don't know which would be worse, being defered and makinig hte agony last longer, or being outright rejected.

i would rather be rejected... until i get rejected, when i would say i would rather be deferred.

i would rather be accepted. haha.

I'd like to know the same thing...

Until I found this board, I always assumed that in order to get rejected early, one had to be totally incapable of even completing the work at a Stanford or Harvard.

I guess I was wrong.

So true, ** I just wanna know!!! **Why don't they post them online?!?

I don't know, but tomorrow's D-Day for a lot of schools.

it looks like its our D-day too. There needs to be a good scared face emoticon, but i can't find one. well imagine it here

I remember rooting around the old board, and I found some data. Not exactly sure how reliable it is (or where exactly the link is), but I'm pretty sure the deferral acceptance rate was about the same as the SCEA acceptance rate, that is 20%. So it's roughly a 25% total SCEA acceptance rate. At least I think. ;)

Oh, and for the person lamenting the high rejection rate, that is more or less true for Harvard and MIT EA. They accept and reject very small percentages and defer everyone else. However Stanford tells us that they don't want to string us along if we don't really have a chance, whereas the other schools more defer you just as a tribute to your accomplishments.

schweet! Thanks :)

[bold]testing.. don't mind[/bold]

damn it, it didn't work.. how do you bold text?

wait, where did you get this?

Last years admit rate early: 19.5%

So this data is good news, team!

They called the admissions office and asked, beethoven.

hmm good at least it didn't go down. I had my MIT interview yesterday and the interviewer said the competition this year for EA spots at MIT was extremely tough, and that the acceptance rate had gone down from last year.
