Stanford Sets Record With Almost 37,000 Freshman Applications

[Harvard reports an application dip - The Boston Globe](http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2012/01/27/harvard_reports_an_application_dip/)

Stanford is bucking a trend - number of applications is down at many schools, including Harvard. This year it appears that Stanford had over 2000 more applicants than Harvard.

Last year Stanford’s yield was 70.5% and Harvard’s yield was 75.5%. Their yields for this year could be up 2% due to HP’s SCEA, or H will have 77.5% and Stanford will have 72.5%. If that is the case, Stanford would admit about 2350 - 2400, and Harvard would admit 2150 - 2200. The admit rate for Stanford could be 6.4% - 6.5%, and for Harvard it could be 6.3% - 6.4%.
