Yeah so this is kind of a stupid thread but uh I'm going to the summer college next week and I was just basically wondering if you had anything to say at all about anything at Stanford, like the campus and stuff. Like recommendations, stuff to see and avoid, general facts, weather, what to pack, stuff they don't say that one should know, etc. I know the campus is really large, but I've never been there. Thanks.

1) Bring a towel/blanket you can sit on the grass with. The weather should be good for studying outside.

2) Hoover Tower is pretty cool.

3) Public walking tours of campus at 11AM and 3:15PM each day leave from across the street from Hoover Tower.

4) There's a Thai cafe in the math corner from about 11AM-2PM each day that appears out of nowhere.

5) Bytes cafe in Packard is pretty good too.

6) There are trails by the Dish that are good for a morning walk/jog/run.

7) There's a cute little park (with swings!) not too far from the heart of campus. It's a bit of a walk, but if you want a break let me know and I can give you directions. It's still on campus, just fyi

8) The weather should be 70s-80s, sunny all the time

bumpo !

Yeah, don't bring a lot of traditional summer clothes, because it's cooler than you think it will be. Bring a bathing suit though for fountain hopping.

I would say DO bring traditional summer clothes for during the day. Just bring warmer stuff (jeans, sweatshirt) for at night.

It gets hot sometimes, but I was able to survive summer college last year with only long pants. Other recommendations... definitely go check out the Rodins, Hoover Tower, and MemChu (the church). Go to the quad at like 11:30 at night (curfew is 12 on weeknights, 12:30 on weekends...). It's quite awesome. I encourage you to explore the campus a lot; it's beautiful. And "Lake" Lagunita. We stayed in Lagunita dorms last year... I believe they do every year. (GO EUCALYPTO!). Um... yeah. You'll have a great time. I don't know anyone who didn't have the time of their life there.

yeah the "lake" was def. an interesting surprise...
