Visiting Stanford 4/2 - 4/3

Hello everyone,

I will be visit Stanford tomorrow and the next day (and possibly longer) and I would appreciate any and all suggestions that people can make regarding things to do and see. I understand that the Spring Quarter classes will be starting on Tuesday, and have also already looked at the calendar of events on the Stanford website. I guess I am really asking for things that I would only be aware of from insiders such as current students. Thanks!

Random things: hiking the dish, fountain-hopping, visiting Cantor, visiting classes, hanging out in one of our dorms if you want to, playing frisbee, etc.

Do the Discover Stanford program! At least the tour, you can probably just skip the info session since (I'm assuming) you already got in. If you aren't able to make admit weekend, it is super last minute but there is a small chance that you could spend the night with a student on campus... that would probably be ideal if possible, although as I said that would be VERY last minute. You might just wander around the dorms, especially Wilbur/Stern, have dinner there, talk to students, ask if you could see their room, explain you're a "profro," etc. Freshman students are probably most likely to be enthusiastic and invite you into their dorm, tell you all about their experience, etc. In Wilbur Cedro, Junipero, Otero, and Rinc are all freshman dorms (arranged in alphabetical order clockwise). In Stern there is Larkin and Donner which are both all freshman dorms.

Cantor is closed Monday and Tuesday. Classes start tomorrow so you won't get to see anything too interesting in most of them, but might get some material the first day.

Thank you both for you advice. I should have give more information in my original post, so I apologize for that. I actually already had plans to stay with a freshman friend (in Osaka) so lodgin was never an issue. I can truly say that my visit was amazing. I got to meet with Erinn Evanns (my admissions officer) and wander around campus (trying to dodge the caterpillars). I actually sat in two classes on Tuesday (Intro to Cognitive Science and Intro to Fuel Cells), so that went well. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, and am even more convinced that I'll be at Stanford come fall!
