Stanford Student's Highschool GPA

For those of you who have already been admitted to Stanford, or are currently attending Stanford, what was your recalculated unweighted highschool GPA for Stanford? What classes did this GPA include? How many classes?

I know a 2 kids who got in. One with 4.0 uw, but easy math classes and legacy and another with 3.9 uw, but most rigorous courseload

O.o seriously...one thing i never got about colleges was why they always list median sat scores but never even give a little clue about their average gpa acceptances when gpa is so much more important lol

The one from my school that wasn't athletics-related probably had around a 4.4

Too bad she's a really boring person. Admission processes are never fool proof.

They can't give median GPAs because GPAs are just random numbers. You need context behind GPAs. School profiles, courses taken, illness, and a whole bunch of other things affect GPA. Having said that, from my school, last year half the kids who got in had perfect GPAs with a whole lot of AP classes.

I have a 4.0 uw and was accepted EA at Stanford. I agree with venkater, however, that GPAs are random without context--or without at least knowing what classes were taken. Anyone can agree that an A in an arts and crafts class is different from an A in AP calculus.

yea but i was hoping that most colleges would show something like the ucs like average ap classes, gpa, "a-g" courses, etc etc

It's about rank, not GPA. Most would be in the top 5%. If the school is average or below most would be in the top 1-5 students and as schools get more competitive you can go closer to just top 5%,

Some schools don't rank though. Mine doesn't even do percentiles.

ranking is flawed i mean if our school ranked by unweighted gpa from 10-11 grade i would lets see...belong to the bottom 50% of my class...
edit: someone can be taking band/orchestra to raise their gpa? or even culinary arts O.o

Actually, collegedata.com has average gpa accepted if you want to check that out they have admission profiles and stuff. It will give you a good idea (has gpa, rank, sat/act, and if they were accepted or not)

I got in this year with a 4.15 gpa unweighted.

how could u have a 4.15 unweighte?? 4.0 is perfect

stanford recalculates the gpa taking only academic courses into account. so, that art class won't really boost your gpa.
