Stanford Transfer Applicants 2009

“Guys, do not go to SUnet to check. Earlier today, I received an email from Shawn Abbott asking me for a letter of explanation as to why I tried to access it. I sent a letter of explanation, but I’m traumatized by the thought that I might’ve been one of the lucky 23 but will now be denied because of this. Did anybody else get the letter?”

lol.

wow southern, maybe it’s not the grades but your attitude that is giving you all these college rejections…

haha. i drink and post. (and it’s rejection-singular, just columbia^)

the relationship between the UCs and the CCs is phenomenal and really an asset for anyone.

it provides individuals with perhaps not the funds or not the grades an opportunity to transfer into a very prestigious, competitive collegiate system.

It will be plural this friday…haha I’m just playing bud

But I do disagree with you on the whole CC students being inferior. I was about to attend a community college even though I was accepted into great schools. That doesn’t mean I’m not capable academically and it doesn’t mean that when I do go to one of the top schools the people there have the right to see me as inferior to them.

I just don’t think we should judge people simply on the fact that they went to CC.

Speaking from personal experience, I completed 2 years at a CCC, transferred to Cal and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. I think the elitism is in your head, not the institution.

S is a private institution, they can use whatever factors they choose for admissions, if you don’t like it, don’t apply.

liontreelion, what was your explanation?

you’re my hero entomom

that sounds like something my mom would say, entomom! you are definitely the mother of the forums  everyone has a different experience of college though. from talking with my friends at Stanford, they seem to have drastically different experiences. maybe it’s the sorority thing, they really suck you into their own community. it’s all very culty.

I can’t believe how nerve racking this has become. I completed a transfer application to S in March and basically was to busy to think about it until last week. But it was honestly the best thing I ever did, even if the acceptance rate is less than 2%. Now I just can’t wait to get this over, and move on.

CC student, in Alabama, 23 yo

good luck to everyone!

omg liontreelion, i NEED to know i NEED to know I NEED to know. Its like an episode of 24, i NEED to know what happens next week I watch thru the credits for the preview of next week. ps. dont tell me what happens this 24 or house from tonight… I usually watch it on tuesday b/c i always have tests on tuesdays so im cramming on mondays.

Let me know what u said to the email! Soap opera time.

p.s. bamaboi, thats an awesome approach the the app. I felt funny about my essays, i was like awe…maybe i should make a traditional essay… then I said Ahhh whatever, these are funny submit.

bangs head on the floor I knew it! I had no chance at Wellesley. Maybe I should just sign the SIR for Cal now…

Posted on Stanford website, gj you guys lol…

"Important Message from the Dean of Admission & Financial Aid
May 11, 2009

Transfer decisions have not yet been released nor has any waitlist activity been announced. Any candidate who attempts to determine the action on their application prior to official notification may have his or her admission revoked. It is unfortunate that we must deliver this message, but we are aware of efforts on the part of a few candidates to compromise the system, which we are able to detect. This is in direct violation of Stanford’s Fundamental Standard.

Signed,

oh that is hilarious - that’s what you get for not having a little patience hahaha

<a href=“Page Not Found : Stanford University”>Page Not Found : Stanford University;

My eyes are tired from crying so much. I’ve never been this shaken in a long time.

i wonder if it matters if we tried but it didnt pull up anything. I hope not. it doesnt hurt to be curious when one double dares ya right? ewww. Anyways. when I was reading that list… which one of those is like dont check to see if u may have a decision? But anyways… Lion dont beat yourself up about it. Whats a bit cool is that he at least gave you a chance to respond to your actions. Thats a good thing =) grace may be an indicator??? hahaha just pulling your leg. I do still hope you get in for real lion. Seems like you a salivating for stanford. ok back to the books for this all nighter.

but it make no sense how you are able to enter SUnet and not be admitted right? so i would think you guys who got in are still accepted? but yea that is scary stuff how they sent you guys warnings.

Look…we simply DID NOT KNOW

For Stanford to take away our acceptance is like a police officer giving a speeding ticket on a road with no speed signs…unreasonable

It is 3:32 and yes, I’m up, shocked…

I don’t even know why because I have great alternatives.

I am just beating myself for getting the wrong information. I thought logging in was to find out about your financial aid status (it was discussed in another thread) so I did it. After I entered my ID, I then found out on this thread that you can know your acceptance…or something like that. And now I guess I’ve committed a “direct Stanford’s Fundamental Standard”…

FOR THOSE APPLYING NEXT YEAR>>>>>>DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!
