Who else got waitlisted for Stanford transfer student?
FWIW, the number of students they waitlist as a transfer is typically single digits. I was surprised to see two in the transfer thread, and you’re not likely to see many more here.
I was waitlisted. All I know is It’s there or bust for me. Stanford has been my goal for over 10 years
Hi Jason, I read your story, very impressive. I guess Stanford is looking for some unique life stories like you. I thought my life was a bumpy journey, and yet nothing to compare with yours. like mjr2013 said, if transfer waitlist is single digit, we might have a chance.
I wonder for the past 7-8 years, the number of enrolled transfer students had never exceed the number of admitted transfer students according to Stanford common data. and the strange thing is, according to previous years transfer thread(I couldn’t remember which year), some transfer waitlisted students never got off the waitlist. I saw one got off the list towards to the middle of July, but that was years ago, and that was the only one I saw here.
@TimeFD
Thank you for acknowledging my efforts, but we all face our own challenges in life. We all have our own skills, and must find our own pathway to overcoming our barriers. I am just grateful for what I do have. And you too have been waitlisted. This is a great acknowledgement of both of us.
May I ask, have you been accepted anywhere else? What are your stats? Where will you go if not off the waitlist? If you have any questions for me, ask. I will happily answer
@jasonspyres
Stanford is the only school I have applied. If not accepted, I will stay in community college for another year, and I will apply again for next cycle, and plus many more other schools.
So about my stats, I am a immigrant and worked in a restaurant for years. Long story, family issues, life struggles, relationships, nothing seems worked out. Then I realized I have never lived for myself. But after I read your story, mine was a joke. yea, 29, I think you can feel the same feeling as well when you around 30s, life is too short to be wasted. so I saved some money and decide to pursue the dream I gave up when I was 18 or 19… I think if I am gonna say one thing in common about us, that will be we both understand the value of life and how much effort we should dedicated ourself to it.
sorry if this is an uninformed question, but what does FWIW stand for?
@TimeFD , I must say I admire that you are striving in life. It is odd, because if we are honest about this, we are legitimate rivals right now. Lets just estimate 8 got waitlisted, and 6 accept. The likelyhood is only 2 spots open up at the most. We are each others rivals. That being said, I do not want to be your adversary. I admire people who work to better themselves.
Life is to short to be wasted, and clearly, you acknowledge that. I am so grateful to see that you are very aware and respectful. My acceptance at UIUC was very disheartening… While I am grateful for all things in life, their acceptance was a backhanded insult in some way. Long story that I would happily share if anybody wanted to know. If you do not get off the waitlist, I hope you will reapply next year. Do not give up your aspiration. If you only have 1 year at a community college, trust me, it is definitely worth reapplying next year.
If you do get off the wait list, even if i do not, I assure you, I will be happy for you. That is a promis
@TimeFD , how many people do you think were waitlisted, and actually accepted the waitlist?
@jasonspyres
I don’t know the number, I don’t think it will be a big list for transfer student. We just need to wait couple more weeks to find out the final decision.
Hey guys, I was waitlisted as well for Fall transfers.
Did you guys submit anything besides the “500 character” reply on the waitlist form??
@SunnyPsych20 I didn’t even submit the 500 character reply… I feel like everything is already on my application.
@TimeFD Had I known that earlier, I would have reccommended you do so. In life, always take the mic, even when you do not know what to say. Don’t be an annoyance, but silence is not often the way to stand out.
@jasonspyres Similar situation here; only applied to Stanford this year, got waitlisted. Will apply again next year as well as to a handful of UC’s and MIT. In addition to the 500 character reply, I sent admissions an email asking when is the latest we should expect a decision. Do any of you have any information about when we should know by? Sounds like somebody heard back in mid-July in the past. I hope it is sooner than that as I need to find a new place to live and sign a lease before my current lease ends August 3rd. Guess I’ll just look for something month-to-month for now until we hear back.
@jasonspyres @mrcleveland @SunnyPsych20 I guess we are pretty much the 50% of the waitlist here. Please share any news if anyone heard anything back from Stanford. Jason and I started this thread so we don’t have to wait in the dark. And also, anyone is reading this now, if you are waitlisted as well, can you please register an account and join us?
@mrcleveland I know we have not talked, But I GOT IN!!! I wish all all of you the best of luck. @TimeFD , why do you say we are 50 percent of the waitlist? Do you know the actual number?
@jasonspyres , just a guess, I don’t think they have a big wait list for transfer students.
@TimeFD I’ll post any updates! Thank you guys for starting the thread, I’m happy to not be alone in this process and I hope we all hear back soon! Would be awesome if several of us got in and could meet up in the Fall.
If anyone learns any new information about past transfer waitlist statistics or stories please post here! Also, if anybody on the waitlist (or admitted) is reading this and happens to have decided to make other arrangements for the Fall already, (in other words is not going to Stanford and hasn’t let them know yet), please let admissions know ASAP to help your friends still crossing their fingers on the waitlist!
@jasonspyres No way!!! Congratulations man!!!
