Hey guys just thought I’d start a discussion for all of us who were waitlisted
Do you think they’ll take anyone off the waitlist this year
If they do, I would imagine they’d take around 10 people off the waitlist max. I’m just going to move on with my life
Same. I’ll just forget about it after accepting the waitlist.
I love how depressing this thread is
Stanford waitlist feels like a foregone conclusion
Idk about you guys but I’m pretty happy with waitlist (considering I was counting on a rejection), definitely an honor to be part of the top ~6.5% for Stanford!
I’m happy and honored to be on the Stanford waitlist, except I feel weird because it seems like I’m so close yet so far
Yes the waitlist is always a weird position. I got waitlisted at one college and it wasn’t a great feeling. Best of luck!

I couldn’t find any data for 2020, but a Stanford Daily article from 2015 reported that the class of 2019 had an 81.1% yield rate
@tocollege182 Wow, other than last year, the other years’ stats are pretty discouraging.
@y90y90 couldn’t agree more
any idea by when we need to indicate our interest and upload the data? is there a deadline?
@Select2021 It says on my portal that you need to accept or decline by “on or before May 1st”
@tocollege182 is there any disadvantage of waiting till 30th April to accept? Does the college start reading the 500 char update immediately or will open only after 1st may? Does Stanford release waitlist even before 1st May?
Stanford doesn’t release any waitlist decisions before May, as far as I know
^^ They said the earliest notification would be May 15th.
Not sure if any of you all can answer this, but I got in contact with an admissions board member recently and they asked for my applicant ID so they could look over my application again. Do waitlisted students even have a Stanford ID? And if so, where could I find it? Thanks.
Hi all, I was just wondering if any of you guys contacted Stanford to reiterate your interest/availability? I know the wait list reply form said to not contact the admissions office, but would it be advisable to contact a regional admissions counselor? Thanks.
@BouncyGreenBall tbh I’m really not sure how beneficial it would be to contact a regional admissions counselor just based off of how much Stanford seems to not want that; but honestly, I think if you have something significant to tell them other than just reiterating your interest I don’t think it’ll hurt
Wanted to let you guys know that my kid did defer enrollment to Stanford (accepted admission for Fall of 2018) for one year to pursue a gap year, so I assume this opens up a spot for this year. Did this as soon as possible as a courtesy and to help anyone waiting. My kid will still attend the Admit Weekend though. Lol It was scary to make sure not to hit the “Will not attend” button." Axxes had 3 buttons to click: 1) Accept and will enroll this year; 2) Will not accept; 3) Will accept and defer enrollment. Hit button 3 and wrote down the reason for deferred enrollment and paid $200 deposit. Wrote down again “We are accepting an offer of admission but just deferring enrollment for one year.” lol
