Stanford / UPenn

I am a senior with a weighted GPA of 3.8. I went to a private high school for my freshman year and had a GPA of 3.5 there which has impacted my overall score and assume it will be factored in. Since my sophomore year it’s been 3.8+ and I would have taken 14 AP classes between my sophomore and senior years. My SAT is 2110 . In terms of extracurriculars I have been an active member of the school Drama and Softball teams having played the lead role in school drama’s twice. Have swum competitively and also coached a swim team as a summer job. Have a strong record of community services and have travelled internationally quite extensively. Am wondering what are my chances with either the Stanford Early Application or the UPenn Early Decision

It would be a safer bet to go to UPenn, but the payoff of getting into Stanford might be much greater! I would go with Penn if I was you, but it also depends on which school really calls to you the most!

I think it depends on nationality here. I know this may sound harsh but I don’t think your unweighted GPA and SAT are enough. I think if you are a minority (besides asian), you might have a chance at UPenn. Your extracurriculars are good though. One thing that I would advise is to do national competitions. If you get recognized nationally or at state level that is huge on your application. Something like USABO or ChemOlympiad would help tremendously. Chance: close, but not there yet.
