Which is better? In US NEWS college ranking, Yale is No. 3, Stanford No.5. Yale wins. But in graduate school rankings, Stanford wins clearly.

Here are the results according to USNEWS graduate school ranking:
Stanford beats Yale in bussiness school, education school, engineerig school, and medical school. But Yale beats Stanford in law school. So in professional schools, Stanford wins by 4:1 (hands down).
Stanford beats Yale in science. Stanford is ranked higher in math, applied math, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and computer science. So in science, Stanford wins by 7:0 (hands down).
Stanford also beats Yale in humanities and social science. Stanford is ranked higher than Yale in political science, economics, sociology, and psycology. Yale beats Stanford in English and history. Overall, Stanford wins by 4:2.

If you add up all these programs, Stanford beats Yale by a score 15:3 (hands down). Even though Stanford and Yale may look equally prestigious in US, Stanford is really a better university when you consider individual programs.

Yale is far more prestigious. legacy alumni prodessors quality of education is much better at Yale. find out how many yale admit go to stanford compare to stanford admit go to yale.

stanford is more like mit, berkeley and cornell.

baba what is the point of you on this forum. you spit out these assuptmtions about stanford that are very biased and you are not helping anyone. I myself chose Stanford over Yale and I can tell you that Yale is not more prestigious. It might be to you but that doesnt mean that everyone believes you becuase I certainly dont. Yale and Stanford are both amazing schools that are so similar in reputation that you cant compare them.
why in the world are you so bitter to this school?? it makes no sense why you must put Stanford down with each of your comments. well if you are going to penn and you are finding ever opportunity to slander stanford's name than I am afraid you are suffering from prestige envy.

yale is far more presigious tham any west coast schools. It academics is as good as Berkeley which is really a tough school better than stanford. How many US Presidents out of Stanford? yes stanford is a top quality tech school like UCB and MIT.

well i live in the east coast and stanford is just as prestigious here. everyone knows HYPSM so it is a joke when you say berkeley is better. who cares how many presidents came out of stanford?? that doesnt make a school good. Stanford is amazing in everything. Check out the graduate rankings and look at the kids that they accept. There is no way you can say this about Stanford because it is completely wrong in the eyes of everyone.

it around 45% CA for stanford with another 10-15% for international, you have 40% for rest ofthe us. if you take international out, then stanford is more than 50% CA which closure to any CA stateschool than any ivy school where I doubt any state has more than 20%. Look at data Stanford for US applicants is more like CA school.

that is because talented california students choose stanford over their ivy league counterparts.
you are arguing a lost battle. there is no way to take away stanford's excellence and reputation. ask anybody and it will always be the same answer

now you guys are getting close to reality. most kids want to stay close to home. Stanford 55% CA may be 70% Pacific Coast( w/o intl) which is similar to pton 50% northeast. Pton has CA around 10%.

prestige would be where people travel far away from home to study. There are about 10-15% kids who go to other coast. Safe to say more CA want to go to Stanford than outsiders.

Facts are not good for health. IF you equate NE to Size of CA then,
Harvard has about 24% from NE and 15% Pacific Coast.comapre that to Stanford which has around 50% from CA I would bet around 5% from NE.
Key thing Harvard is able to attract much more Kids from out of region with high yield rate than any one. That is prestige, leaving security of home, week end visits, tough weather/ crime fested cities. There of couse few NE who would like to run away from bitter winter for a 4yr countryclub but that is not prestige.

If Stanford was such a great school and all american kids being equal in all region it would have CA population less than 20%. Admit it folks you are CA school.

i did not leave new york because of the weather. I gave up yale because I just believe stanford was the better school for me. No one had a problem with me giving it up because everyone in the east coast knows that HYPSM are equal. All that matters is which one is the better fit. this argument is pointless. if you ask anyone it will always be the same conclusion that stanford is one of the best. there is no way to deny it not even with facts about cali kids staying in state. that doesnt matter. not to the the east coast, not to prestige, and definentyl not to the professionals. look at stanford's peer assesment rating. 4.9 - tied with HYPM which shows equal respect for all of them. sorry but there is no argument

I'm also from the East Coast going to Stanford. Where I live, it's reputation is just as good as HYP. And yes, Stanford excels in the sciences, but it's humanities programs are very highly regarded as well. It's silly to claim that one university is overall better than the other.

Most ivy have 10% coming from CA, then can make CA students travel away. They have much more balanced class becuase they can make people travel and ignore factors like weather/ crime. A national university should be more like like national in mix. Stanford is regional school pretending to be national. Ifr Stanford is 70-80% west coast inclufing PAC-10 then how the hell they are international university.

do you realize that alot of the kids who get into the ivys can't get into stanford. look at the admission rates and SAT average and you will realize that. alot of cali kids leave cali because the best private schools they can go to after not getting into stanford are on the east coast

i doubt that. i would love to see a UC with a less than 12 percent acceptance rate and a 1450 SAT average.
just stop!!!! there is no comparison. there is no doubt about stanford's prestige.
