Typically 2-3 students are admitted each year to HYPSM
With... maybe 2-3 more going to other ivies or competitive east coast schools
Eh - 12-15 get into Berkeley each year

Recommendations should be pretty good, if not phenomenal (I hope that doesnt sound presumptuous - but my teachers that I asked really liked me and have been known to write really good recs in the past)

For my essay I'm planning on doing sort of a shmeelage of what my friends have taught me - you know - those random talents that really mean nothing in life but that you never forget because they are important to you - a.k.a. - Rubik's cube (I can do it in under a minute now!) - Mandarin (Ni hao ma? Wo ai wo but wo bu shi huan ne because ne shi ben dan - just kidding) - Ballet (this 2 AM lesson I had with my friend one time I shall never forget - my hip oscillations were very kung fu-ey - then she told me that you're not supposed to gyrate in ballet and I keeled over in quasimodo-esque laughter) - maybe I'll throw something in about my Final Fantasy and Harry Potter addictions to round out my quirky eccentricies nicely.

I think it should make for a very humorous and heartfelt essay -

I completely forgot what this post was about...

O right - what do you think about my chances?
