Stanley Behrens Foundation Scholarship

<p>Hi! Yesterday, I received an email from UCI saying that I was eligible for their Stanley Behrens Foundation Scholarship. The thing is that since I do not know if I was admitted into UCI, I was wondering if it was worth the time to apply to this scholarship because since UCI requires all applicants to submit their applications by April 2 (meaning that UCI MUST receive all applications in their mailbox by that day), I probably have to send my application before knowing my admission status. :/ What do you guys think I should do? (I attached the email UCI sent me below.)</p>

<p>" Dear prospective UC Irvine student,
I would like to make you aware of a scholarship opportunity that you may be eligible for contingent on you being admitted as a freshman at UC Irvine. The Stanley Behrens Foundation Scholarship is awarded to an Orange County graduating high school senior who has demonstrated recognizable talents and will be attending UC Irvine in the fall of 2012. The award is a conditionally renewable $2,500 scholarship and is contingent upon the applicant being admitted to UC Irvine.
Eligibility Requirements
• Must be admitted to the University of California, Irvine
• Graduating high school senior from Orange County, CA
• Minimum GPA of 3.5
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Family income not exceeding approximately $110,000 annually
• Highly motivated to succeed
• Involved in charity or community affairs
The application deadline is Monday April 02, 2012. "</p>

<p>Usually if the scholarship organizations message you, they think that you have a very good chance of being admitted to the school. Keep in mind that they usually have no connection with the office of admissions, and that there is no guarantee.</p>

<p>^that’s not necessarily true. I got a bunch of organization scholarship offers from UCB, which I didn’t have any chance of being admitted to.</p>

<p>Nana, if you have free time you might as well apply. If not, you can wait till the middle of March since if you are going to be admitted, that will probably be when you receive your letter (if not sooner)</p>

<p>^That’s why I said “usually.”</p>
