If I get a GED, would I still need to show admission officers any high school grades? If not, can I still use my HS extra-curriculars/extra-curricular achievements to boost my application?
The second part of the questions I have: Should I take CC non-degree seeking semester courses then apply as a first-year for spring semester, or enroll at a community college (associates degree) than transfer? If the second one, should I wait more than one semester to transfer?
Besides the three extra years it took for me to finish HS (family/financial issues) and the GED diploma, I had good grades (that could be mentioned on my references), good reference from AP Bio teacher, A’s in two courses at a respected program in England (also, good refs), a charity project I founded, work, MUN prizes, achievements in both yearbook and MUN, plus a few other extracurriculars. I also know a few languages and lived in two other countries. I’m just mentioning these because I feel like all the issues caused by my personal problems will be ‘hidden’ by my GED (except that I will have to explain the extra years), but I wouldn’t necessarily HAVE to have one or two years of CC before applying for a 4-year.
