Start on Spring or transfer? GED with good scores

I’m taking my GED in a couple of days, due to financial and family issues that delayed my high school career in two years.
But I’m trying to decide on what to do after this fall. I want to major at a 4-year college in neuroscience (with pre-med pre-reqs). I’m taking classes at a community college nearby this fall - but should I enroll at my CC as non-degree seeking or enroll for the 2y degree and then transfer?
If I take non-degree seeking classes: I will apply as a first year for spring semester at various colleges. This will allow me to go to the same college for much longer, which is something I really want. I want to get started as soon as possible. If I enroll and then transfer after 1y: It will take me longer to get to where I want and I’ll only have 3ys left at my future college. But I’ll be able to save more money (not that huge of an issue) and won’t have the trouble of catching intro classes half-way.

Would colleges think it’s weird I took CC classes but I’m applying as a first year? I’m really confused about what to do… I know I’ll have a good GED score, great references from my former AP Bio teacher and two teachers from a respected science program I did a while ago (I had all A’s in my science courses). I’m sure I’ll get good grades at the CC courses, since I am generally a great student. I also work. I’m mentioning these in case it helps deciding if I should just try as a first-year for spring semester, since besides my lengthy high school career and eventual GED, my resume is not that bad.

For some reason I think colleges would like a transfer better, but I’m so ready for college. If I apply one year from now, will my good aspects from HS will look too old for admission officers?

You may not be able to do that. Some schools would consider you a transfer after 1 hour in college post HS. If you really want to go to a four year college and can afford to do that then apply there. There are some colleges still accepting applications for this fall.

Thank you ED! I’ll check with the individual schools to see if they would consider me a transfer student after one semester.
I can’t afford to apply this fall, so unfortunately I won’t be able to attend any of the colleges I want this semester.
