Starting a band/the music scene in college?

So as a junior, it is going to be kind of hard to get a band together, record some songs, and play a live show in about a year. I have a band now, sort of. But we have yet to practice -___-

Can I start a band in college? I imagine I can find a guitarist, bassist, and vocalist.

But I mean, who is going to drum? I imagine you can't really fit a drum set and play it in a dorm. And how about issues like finding a practice place?

Sorry if it's a silly question >_>. But anybody here know any bands formed at a university, been in one, etc?

Well, you’re assuming everybody in college lives in dorms, which is far from true. Many people live in houses. If someone relocated in order to go to school, they may have chosen to bring drums. Depending on the city, there may also be current residents who aren’t college students, but are still looking to play music.

Bottom line is it isn’t something to worry about, especially in advance.

my friend was in a band, he always went down to his hometown on the weekends to practice because his drumset was down there. they would play monthly shows down in his hometown (1 hour away). he was gone quite a few of the weekends and really hung out with his band friends…so i dont know, just an experience
