Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get some advice about starting an art club at my school. I'm currently a sophomore (if the club is approved I'll be in my junior year) and I already have a teacher who is willing to sponsor the club.

She said she would love to do it but she also emphasized all of the things that have to get done, which intimidated me. For instance, for an art club, where would we be able to get money? Since it would be new, I don't think a lot of members would be interested in fundraising such as car washes and things of that nature. Also, events that we could plan could fall through and we wouldn't have anything to do to prove our worth (so the principal would shut us down after only a year).

Am I worrying too much about future issues? Again, it hasn't been approved by my school's activities director so it won't even matter even if it actually ends up being rejected.

Have any of you started a club at your school? What was your experience? And most of all, where do you get essentials like funding and activity ideas to start the club? I already some ideas and even a possible artist who would like to collaborate with the art program to do a mosaic at a hospital and such but still, that is obviously not enough for a whole school year.

I'd like to know what you guys think and how you guys have handled starting a new club at school. Thanks so much!
