I’m a high school sophomore and want to start an organization, but I’m not exactly how to start one. I don’t know how to get support for it, recruit volunteers and participants, raise awareness about it, get it started, and continue maintaining it. I plan on targeting primarily students through my organization. If anyone could give advice regarding this matter, it would be really helpful and I would really appreciate it since I’m pretty lost now.
Why do you want to start an organization? What is the theme or goal? You simply have not thought through who would be interested, what would they do, what would they get by participation? If you are looking for a hook, you will find other posts on CC about starting a group. Why not join an existing club at your high school?
@JenJenJenJen my passion is getting more girls into STEM. @zannah ^^. that’s my theme/goal. i’m not doing this for a hook; i’m doing this because i think that it can help others. i’m already in clubs at my school - fbla, math team, computer science club, robotics, and another academic competition club.
Don’t form an organization, per se, but figure out how to get more girls into math team and Cs club and robotics.
Talk to the advisers about how to do that. Maybe a suggest having a Robotics for dummies session so people with no experience would feel more comfortable starting out.
Or have a Girls in STEM club for freshman/sophomores where you visit each of those other clubs to check them out.
