Starting at a new high school in a different state as a sophomore or junior...

So this will probably happen to me. Chances are that I'll be going to my cousin's school. I'm a freshman right now, and my cousin is also a freshman, but she's taking classes that I would be taking my sophomore year at my current school. I'm just wondering how credit transfers will work, etc. I'm especially hoping that anyone who has gone through this can help me.

Thanks!

Credit transfers will be dealt differently among other schools, so we can’t make any specific comments here.

It could be worse though. One of my friends moved from my school in NJ to one all the way in California coming into our senior year. He made friends easily enough, and his credits transferred over so that he’s still graduating on time while still taking the same advanced courses.

Well thanks for your help!

At least you’ll probably be switching schools once. My friend has moved every year since elementary school (recently settling down near my house) and changing schools every year. Sometimes he goes back to a school he’s been to… It’s because of his dad’s company and how they have to move every now and then. Last year and this year (junior/senior years) are the first time in he doesnt know when that he’s been to the same school… for two years in a row.

I’m sure your transfer will be okay though, dont worry. I’m sure the school you’re at right now and where you will be going has had people transfer before, unless it’s a new school. Haha =)

That was really helpful, thanks! I guess I’ll end up being good friends with the counselor! lol
