Hello. I am a Virginia college student who had a pretty good but not great GPA in high school, and a 2110 SAT. I went to the state school I thought was right for me, then my mom got sick (she's fine now) and I had some mental issues that went untreated for a while (which I now have under control), and I didn't do well at all. I lost some of my financial aid for this upcoming year, so I'm thinking to save money and save my GPA, I'm going to start over at a community college.

Many of these threads ask if they can get away with not reporting previous colleges attended, but I'm not trying to do that, obviously I'm going to report my poor performance in my first year. Since I'm equipped to work as hard as I know I can work, and succeed as much as I know I can, do you think colleges will accept me as a 3rd year student after I hopefully get a very high GPA at the community college I will be attending?

UVA has a guaranteed admissions program but it says you have to get a C or better in post-high school education, does my poor performance at my former state school bar me from being in the guaranteed admission program, or can I still be in the guaranteed admission program considering the fact that I plan on starting over completely? I called them and asked about it but the person on the line didn't know, so I was wondering if someone on here might (if there's a UVA rep on here who happens to know more than the person who picked up my phone call, idk)

Thank you!
