Hi everyone.

I'm a sophomore at Valdosta State U and I'm considering transferring to UGA for fall 2011. I've wanted to go there since high school but I simply goofed on the application and essays (and I'm still face-palming myself about it all). I realized the risks of the idea. So far, I'm still on route to UGA but I just need more input. Pros and Cons will probably help.

VSU;
Pros-
Cheapest tuition in GA (I think)
Establishing EC's
Human profs (can be rare at times)

Cons-
Limited EC's
Weak student body and atmosphere IMO (most are here for party or VSU was last resort)
Very boring town
Far from home

UGA;
Pros-
Far more opportunities
Challenging and (assuming) more gratifying academia
Recognized pre-med program
My best friends
New partnership with Medical College of GA (in 2012 --if the world's still here hehe)
Closer to home

Cons-
Transition adjustment (intimidating)
Far more expensive (about 3x VSU's)
GPA risk

Is it worth the risk? Should I suck it up where I am and just do my very best? Also, please forgive me if I've overlooked any similar threads, I promise I looked. I gave school names in case anyone knows particular details about either schools/towns, that'd be nice info as well.

I understand that this doesn't exactly sound like a big goal like Yale or Stanford prospectives have. I've overlooked all that and decided I want to enjoy life now rather than after school or retirement (matter of opinion, of course). I guess you could say I admire philosophy over monetary goals. Meaning, if I need to take an extra semester or year of school, I'm willing.

Thanks.
