So yeah, the prompt says to use one of the quotes as a starting point... does that mean a place to get our juices flowing or to literally start w/ the idea of the quote (or the actual quote even) right away? Thanks!

I put the quote at the top of my essay, which I’m pretty sure is required.

@cheese123211 thanks and congrats on your acceptance? did u leave it as stand alone or tie it into the intro?

Thanks! I made references to the quote throughout my essay

I didn’t mention the quote or use it throughout my essay. I just got an idea from the quote and then I guess related it back in my concluding paragraph

I doubt the formatting and such matters so much. If they like your essay, it will help. I would also say to include the quote somewhere for sure. It says as a jumping off point, so probably at the beginning, but then you may not need to reference it again. I put the quote at the top, then followed it by “This quote by _____ epitomizes my attitude going into the 9th grade… etc.” and focused on the idea that I followed it with, and I got in. Again though, I think that you have freedom to do what you like, and if it fits the rest of your application and they like it, it will help.
