I was curious of your experiences from seniors auditioning for colleges and scholarships at State Thespian conferences. I noticed that OCU and Webster are attending along with dozens of others. Do they make acceptances and/or scholarships based on a 90 sec performance? Anyone have this happen or hear of it happening?

I am also trying to find out more about this process, do you bring resumes and headshots for all the colleges there or just give to a table of judges? Is there a table of judges? Do they get feedback from all the colleges. My daughter is a junior and will be auditioning at the FL Thespian Conference, we don't know anyone that has done this before and the web site didn't give much info do you prepare one song or two? a monolgue too? thank you for any insight.

CJ......her drama teacher at her high school should have this information. And the state thespian site online should have the information also. My daughter sent in an application and fee with headshot and resume to the Thespian conference people. At the conference she did a monologue and sang. There were 20 some schools there - mostly local schools. After they posted names of people they wanted to talk further with. To our surprise some schools that didn't even post her name have sent letters with full scholarship offers in the mail.

Last yr. after being awarded the District Thespian Scholarship my D applied to audition at the Tampa State Thespian Conference as well. The application did not require a resume they wanted it all on the one page with a reduced size headshot (same as Districts) along with a letter of recommendation from her Director and the school (stamped) seal. She was a Senior so I can't really comment on the Junior requirements, however, they requested (again as at Districts) 90 seconds total for song & monologue.
Once you submit the application along with your school IE's (individual events) your Director will be notified as to your time/day slot. Seniors do not audition for colleges as it was in April. It was very organized and well run. If you have further questions, I would email Michael Higgins the Director ( info should be online on @ FLThespian.com, however, some times you need to email or call them directly....trust me I know....I was a Thespian parent volunteer who had many many dealings with them hence my title "Mainstage"...D's high school won the mainstage honor to perform @ States). We LOVED and miss it... Good Luck it was a lot of FUN! :-)
P.S. Double check on requirements as they seem to change each year.

We just did this 2 weeks ago at the Georgia state thespian conference. We had to fill out a form in the fall with a brief resume, reduced headshot and a summary of thespian activities (for thespian scholarships). The troupe director has to approve it, and it has to be stamped with the school seal. The audition is 90 seconds (they see so many kids at these things!). The students were ushered into the audition room in groups of 10, and the room was filled with college reps and thespian people there to judge for thespian scholarships. Each student auditioned, then all were escorted out and the next batch brought in. Each student had been given a number, so the colleges posted callback sheets with the numbers of those kids they wanted to see.

Webster was one of the schools interested in my son, and one of their acting coaches took him right there into a room to give him a little extended acting audition. They want us to send in an CD audio recording with two vocal pieces, which we are pulling together right now. We just filed the application online last week..
