So the Statement of Legal Residency is asking some really personal questions about my parents’ citizenship status in the U.S. and I want to keep consistent but I don’t know if I should be honest… how will this affect my family if I admit that my parents may/may not be here legally?
Are they asking about RESIDENCY or CITIZENSHIP? I believe the purpose of the form is to establish whether or not you should be charged in-state or non-resident tuition. As with any legal document you should be honest. If you are not here legally but you meet all other residency requirements, you can still get in-state tuition through AB540. As for how it will affect your family, I’m very confident that you will not be reported to immigration based on your answers, especially if it is a UCSC form.
