I will be taking Statics this Summer at a local community college. Summers here are boring so I figured I could something productive with my time.

My question: How does Statics compare to Physics I(Mechanics) in terms of difficulty? Any feedback is appreciated.

Most people find it quite difficult the first time through but it’s really not that bad. They usually look back and can’t believe they ever struggled with it, in my experience. Still, it is usually rather challenging to the students taking it, and in my opinion it was my difficult than physics 1.

I honestly thought it was harder than Phys1, but I took it in a 5 week session and it was pretty intense.

Statics is harder because you’re drilling down further into systems in equilibrium than physics 1 does. That said, at least it doesn’t have things like angular acceleration or translational vs rotational velocity.

A summer course isn’t going to give you lots of time to practice doing problems, but if you want to live and breath statics for a few weeks, I recommend the Hibbeler 12th edition book (easy to find worked out problems online and cheaper than the 13th).
