Statistical Breakdown of 2400s...

I think, personally, that a categorical analysis of 2400s by geography, race, socioeconomic background, etc. would be fascinating.

Does anyone know if such an analysis has been preformed?

Any speculation on what the results would look like?

I would wager about half of the 2400s are from the Northeast, a quarter from California, and the rest sprinkled across the nation.

From a racial perspective, I would guess about 60% Asian, 30% white, and the other ten percent distributed among the remainder.

While I don’t think the data has been pulled together anywhere, it’s possible to request datasets from the collegeboard for a nominal fee, if you’re interested - last time I called them up they wanted $20 for some particular combo I was looking at.

Oh, and for what it’s worth, white, male, midwestern 2400’er here, I know one other person with a high score in my town of 350,000 people - a girl with a 2390 (and we are pretty sure that’s everyone from my area with such scores).

Well yes, the ACT is predominant in the midwest, I’m not sure which is the test of the day in the south, and any kid that gets a 35 or a 36 on the ACT is probably not going to spend the time “trying” the SAT unless they have nothing better to do in life than “try” for high school standardized test scores.

I know one 2400: white male from Dallas, TX

My nephew had a 2400 several years back, white male, midwest.

I know one from 2010 - white male, Maine. Excellent athlete, too.

Silverturtle- white and hispanic. Lorem ipsum’s kid - white, I think sewhappy’s son had 2400 and I think he’s white.Kid from our high school was Asian. Since there are statistically few asians it would be remarkable if they made up 60 percent but could be. And BTW - who cares? We"re talking about 300 kids.

^^^bovertine, the OP was also asking about which region these perfect scorers are from, not just race/ethnicity. Do you have that information about the kids you referenced?

some of that info can be found here.
[SAT Data Tables](SAT Suite of Assessments - College Board Research)

I know of at least three in my grade, all Asian, at my school (in California).

I would guess the info is somewhere on the SAT website. Not that you asked, but here is the ACT link and you can go in by state. The category Academic Achievement will give the # of kids within a state for each score.

[2011 ACT National and State Scores | ACT Profile Reports | ACT](http://www.act.org/newsroom/data/2011/profilereports.html)

Totally in 2011 ACT had 1.6 mil test takers and 704 36’s. My son was one of 26 in Minnesota - (sorry I am just a proud mama :p) ACT is more popular than SAT in the Midwest - example: NY also had about 26 36’s. S2 took the SAT II’s, but never even considered taking the SAT.

I think that College Confidential and College Board are owned by the same group, so maybe a moderator like Roger Dooley could help you locate the info.

Thanks for the links!
