Hey guys I was wondering what would look better on my college app when I apply to colleges. Right now I am a junior in highschool. Precalc is really hard for me but I can manage to get a 80 in the class. If I take statistics I can easily get a 90. I was wondering does it matter on college apps if I take Statistics over precalc? Will it matter a lot?

… Why not both? That is what I did my junior year.

Colleges WANT to see that you’ve challenged yourself, and if you don’t take pre-cal, you’re (obviously) locked out of calc your senior year.

Keep in mind that many majors require advanced math: business, economics, biology… If you don’t take pre-cal in high school, you’ll be stuck in remedial!

Depends on the level of colleges you plan to apply to. The more selective the college, the more likely that viable canidates will have taken calc, which I assume has precalc as a prerequisite?

Well the main college I wanna get accepted into his Stonybrook. If I take statistics it’s gonna be on my college app instead of Precalc. Basically on your transcript would u rather have a 80 in precalc or a 90 in statistics?

SUNY Stonybrook isn’t going to be expecting you to take eleventy-bajillion APs or anything. As long as the rest of your transcript isn’t completely inane (ie, isn’t 4 years’ worth of P.E. and home economics instead of actual academic classes), and your SAT scores are up to scratch, you should be fine.
