I'm going to be a junior next year and I cant decide what to take AP stats or precal.Im currently in Algebra II and im doing horrible in it.. I have a C. Many peopel have told me Precal is like algebra which makes me not want to take it next year and wait till senior year. This is because by the time senior years over I will have already applied for colleges so they may not see my precal grades. I know for a fact though that I will do AMAZING in AP stats. So if I end Highschool with Precal taken will colleges take note of that and will that decrease my chances? (Btw alot of people do take precal) LIKE ALOT.

AP stats is a great class and having a nice A on your junior year transcript would be great (especially coming off of a C).

But if you go on to take precalc senior year remember that your mid-year grades get sent to colleges, and that C can be seen as senioritis. If you go on to fail, you could get admission revoked.

I’d say take Stats just to salvage your transcript, but make sure you’re really buckling down in precalc senior year.

Would colleges think its bad if I graduate with precal taken and not calculus?

Try to look ahead to your major and view this as one pathway. If you are interested in a science degree you must eventually get through calc (and for some majors, beyond). Take whatever class sequence you need to get there, and make sure you can get college credit for precalc or calc or you face repeating it in college. Its not a problem if you dont get through precalc as long as you have the prerequisite number of hours for their admission.

If you think you would do well in AP stats I would take that.

Take stats. Plus another ap class won’t hurt you app. :)
