Stats for SSP

I was wondering if someone could post the stats of a sophomore who was accepted into SSP (summer science program). Just like, GPA and collegeboard scores, also EC's.
Mucho gracias.

as long as your GPA is over 3.5, have decent collegeboard scores and decent EC's you should be fine.

could you elaborate on what decent collegeboard scores mean? im guessing that means 2100+ on SAT/PSAT?

They're not really that selective about SAT scores. With that said, you still have to score decent though. 2100+ is a good call. You should have good scores in the area of science, but you don't need perfection. Be sure to convey your interest for the program and your love of science.

wait, sat 2 science subjects are required?!

i think if your PSAT score is 215+ and have pretty sound stats everywhere else, u will be fine.

Even as a sophomore? I hear the competition is really stiff as a 10th grader.

^ Summer before or after 10th grade?

Unless you are on a fast track to skip your senior year of HS because you have met the requirements for graduation you are unlikely to be admitted after sophomore year.

I'd look around for other programs since you are a sophomore.

echoing vin, are SAT II subject tests reccommended for this program?

I went as a sophomore this year:

226 PSAT
Science Olympiad, math team, Academic Decathlon, CTY for extracurriculars

You should definitely apply- the only reason to wait might be because it's such an incredible experience, and going back to two more years of high school is definitely a drag. You're not at a noticeable disadvantage going as a sophomore, especially if you've taken at least Calc AB. There were three sophomores at Socorro this year, and it was certainly worth taking the risk to fill out the application (I was surprised when I got in, but since the app is free, you don't really lose anything if you don't make it this year). Your interest in science is definitely much more important than stats and test scores, but you do want a strong academic background in order to benefit from the program.

ditto.
I guess feel free to PM me... though I really don't know how much help I would be. I would just kind of say what thestralnerd said over and over.

But it IS such an amazing experience. On the last day, I told the academic director that I would be applying to come back the next summer (just to see if I get in.. they might somehow mess up the paperwork or something... though I would definately not mind going back for another year--- though it might be kind of weird with different people). Having not taken physics before I had gone, I would recommend to any sophomore who hasn't to really think about waiting until after junior year. Or if you really want to go, please do PAY ATTENTION to every lecture, even if start to fall asleep. Also, I would think that Calc BC is more helpful than AB, because it covers taylor polynomials... which is part of the OD, but I heard that next year you guys get to do Near Earth Asteroids...

One last thing-- there's a rumor that sophomores won't be allowed to apply anymore... nothing's confirmed though.
